ralph natale
I know he was the consummate liar, rat, scumbag who lied skillfully and pretty effectively. its like he almost believed Carlo Gambino pricked his finger! total weirdo. I am interested, however, about what he actually DID do prior to his long jail term and as "boss" or figurehead or whatever the fuck he was. i read his book that was full of prevarications and the mainstream articles. I'm looking for some stuff that hasn't been beaten to death already. its really odd that 85% of his whole interview w that ben david guy lacked veracity altogether. was he even down with ang bruno? THANSK

Re: ralph natale
Well basically I think people would agree he was a guy involved in the local unions as an enforcer and ran a meth operation. And he did personally kill a couple union officials for Angelo Bruno, so he was not just a wannabe.CornerBoy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 6:17 am I know he was the consummate liar, rat, scumbag who lied skillfully and pretty effectively. its like he almost believed Carlo Gambino pricked his finger! total weirdo. Re: ralph natale
He shot George Feeney to death in 1970, though that murder does not appear to have been sanctioned by the family leadership. He killed Joseph McGreal in 1973 on Bruno’s orders.
During prison visits in the early 1990s, he planned and authorised the Ciancaglini-Merlino faction to kill Louis DeLuca, Felix Bocchino, and James Diaddorio.
He was released from prison in September 1994 and Merlino was also released two months later. Merlino (officially just a soldier at the time) conducted a ceremony at a hotel in late 1994 to induct Natale and Frank Gambino. Natale was then immediately installed as boss and made Merlino his underboss. Natale and Merlino’s ascent to the top of Philadelphia was sanctioned by the Genovese family.
As boss, Natale sanctioned the murder of William Veasey and ordered the killings of Joseph Sodano and Anthony Turra.
Michael Avicolli was killed behind his back, and he was only informed of it after the fact. He also believed he was lied to when they told him the reason why they killed him. Ralph Mazzuca was another unsanctioned murder.

Huh. Do you have more info on the George Feeney murder not being a Philly mob hit? I've been under the impression all these years that Natale did that one for Bruno too.chin_gigante wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 10:05 am He shot George Feeney to death in 1970, though that murder does not appear to have been sanctioned by the family leadership. Why would the Genovese family approve of Merlino & his people to take over the family? Who did Merlino have in the Westside?chin_gigante wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 10:05 am He shot George Feeney to death in 1970, though that murder does not appear to have been sanctioned by the family leadership. The Genovese family started backing the Natale-Ciancaglini-Merlino faction in 1993, possibly because they were unhappy with Stanfa over the dispute between Sal Avena and Carmine Franco. By the height of the war, the Gambino family also withdrew support and recognition from Stanfa. After the war, the Genovese family put Natale in charge and the Gambinos approved of the decision.Shellackhead wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 6:45 pm Why would the Genovese family approve of Merlino & his people to take over the family? At one point, Ronald Previte caught Natale on tape talking about it. Rumours had circulated that Nicky Scarfo was trying to get his son to take the family back and had put hits on Natale, Merlino, and Previte. Natale told Previte that the Genovese family intervened and "the kid" in charge of the family [Bellomo] sent word to Scarfo to forget it and that Natale was the only recognised boss in Philadelphia.
After installing Natale as boss, the Genovese family wanted to okay any major decisions, and this arrangement carried over when Merlino took over as acting boss. For example, when Merlino wanted to induct members from Boston he asked the Genovese family for approval. The Genoveses said no, but Merlino made them anyway.
These messages were passed through the North Jersey crew. Larry Ricci was the point of contact between the Genovese and Philadelphia families. Ricci would give messages to Vincent Centorino (they were cousins), who would then give them to Peter Caprio, his captain. Caprio would go down to Philadelphia and pass the messages to Natale and Merlino. They would also pass messages back up the chain. Vito Alberti was another important point of contact and he had been in prison with Natale.

Sodano was refusing to come in. He sent his money and he sent his crew but he repeatedly refused to come himself. The Turras had been trying to kill Merlinodavidf1989 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 7:24 pm why did Natale sanction the murders of Turra and Sodano?

Here was Natale's explanation of the Feeney hit when he was debriefed by the feds:Adam wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 4:39 pmHuh. https://lcnbios.blogspot.com/2018/10/ra ... 1990s.html- "George Feeney was a young, Irish gangster, who just got released from prison, who had a group of other young hoodlums with him. [They] had a little rivalry with another Irish gangster, Joey McGreal. They heard that Joey McGreal was over in Jersey making a lot of money with the unions. They decided that they wanted to come over, and do what they had to do, led by this George Feeney..[Feeney was] making threats against Joey McGreal, against Ralph Natale, against Angelo Bruno. He's gonna take the union, and whatever he had to do. He was gonna do whatever he had to do.
Me and Joey McGreal put our heads together, and I said Joey, this guy's got to go. He won't listen, he's gonna cause us a lot of problems. [We] caught him at Billy Duke's on Route 73. It was a musical bar..Joey walked over to him, had a few drinks with him, I was sitting at the end of the bar, wanting to talk to him. He was giving him a hard time. Joey came back to me. Said this guy's, this guy's murder. What are we going to do with him? The place was jammed. He went into the men's room, George Feeney. I told Joey go get the car, have it out front. I waited until he walked out of the men's room, I stuck a [gun] right into his ribs. I said either you walk with me outside, we're gonna talk, or I'll kill you right here. He then walked outside with me, we put him in the car, Joey McGreal, me and George Feeney. And we took him back into South Philadelphia at the Downtown AC. That was Joey's after hours club. It was on 28th and Tasker.
We marched him through the club. The place was jammed. The jukebox was going, and I had the [.38] sticking right in his ribs. I said let's go upstairs, we'll talk. We walked upstairs..I went into the bathroom to clean up, wash my hands, I didn't feel too good. Joey's arguing with him sitting in a chair, he's got a nickel plated [pistol]. I took my .38, and put it in my coat, and I hung it over a chair. Washing up. Him and Joey are getting into it. He won't listen. All at once he started, if I had my pistol, I'd kill that dago in there, and that other old dago in South Philadelphia, meaning Angelo Bruno. Joey hits him with the gun in the side of the head. I come out of the bathroom, I half ran, grabbed the gun, and I shot him twice, maybe three times, right in the face." Body dumped in area of Deptford, New Jersey by McGreal. Car demolished at Smashie's located in vicinity of 61st and Passyunk Ave.
So while he says that this Feeney was making threats against Bruno, he states that the murder was planned (not very well it sounds like) and carried out by himself and McGreal. So even if the murder wasn't sanctioned by Bruno I doubt he had any problem with this loose cannon getting clipped.
