Re: News from Italy
You mixed it up Tony, it was Domingo's aunt, Angela Domingo and Salvatore Maranzano's son, Mariano Maranzano that married.

Re: News from Italy
Oh yeah, thanks for the correction. That's what happens when I post while running around on my phone. Is it known what relation Angela Domingo was to Francesco? She was the sister of Buster's father Giuseppe Domingo, right?

Re: News from Italy
If she was the sister of Buster's father it would mean her other brother was longtime Bonanno member Antonio Domingo. Would also mean Francesco was a first cousin of Buster, though Buster would be way older. Not impossible (i.e. Francesco's father was the youngest sibling and Francesco is one of his younger kids) though there could be multiple Angela Domingos in the family tree.
Not sure the exact relationship myself but Francesco and his brother Michele Domingo are described as maintaining very close ties to the USA and Michele travels back and forth. They appear to be related to some current CDG Domingos who live in NYC that are close to the Montagnas.

Re: News from Italy
Given that a number of the Domingo family remained in Chicago, I wonder if any of them retained ties back to CDG. Also wonder if the CDG Montanas in Chicago were actually Montagna.B. wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 3:58 pm If she was the sister of Buster's father it would mean her other brother was longtime Bonanno member Antonio Domingo. Re: News from Italy
I've wondered about a Montagna/Montana connection. The name is pronounced "Mon-tain-yuh" and an early report about Sal Montana before he was well-known have the FBI transcribing his name as "Sal Montana". When Asaro told Valenti about Sal's murder it was transcribed as "Montania" or something like that.
Don't know if I've ever seen the Montagna name in CDG mafia family trees but Montana shows up now and again. Sal's mom may have come from Alcamo, as there was a reference to one of his brothers being born there and his mother's maiden name shows up in the Alcamo Family.

Re: News from Italy
Could be that Montana and Montagna were distinct surnames, or it could be that one is a dialect spelling or variant. All of the documents for the Chicago CDG Montanas use that spelling, at least.B. wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 4:26 pm I've wondered about a Montagna/Montana connection. I've had this opinion for some time now......

"Secondigliano alliance as Cosa Nostra, the 3 Aieta sisters are avatars who command", the revelations of the boss's son-in-law
Of
Antonio Mangione
7 March 2022
"The clan is as if it were Cosa Nostra . " To reveal the background and organization chart regarding the Secondigliano Alliance is Luca Esposito , the son-in-law of the boss Patrizio Bosti who in early February, after being arrested for bribing a doctor in exchange for fake Green Passes before leaving for Dubai with his family , asked to speak with the magistrates. The prosecutor Giovanni Melillo was also interrogating him in prison on February 2 and 3, alongside the anti-amorra prosecutor Ida Teresi.
He has not yet decided whether or not to collaborate with justice, for now he has released only spontaneous statements, which however have turned the spotlight on the most powerful clan not only in Naples but in Italy even more.
According to Esposito, the Alliance that sees Contini-Mallardo-Licciardi together is comparable to the Sicilian mafia: "every month it pays its affiliates almost 170 thousand euros in" salaries ", it is protected from collusion with members of the police and where the wives hire reins of command when husbands are in prison ”..
The strength of the Aieta
"Boss wives are like avatars: when there are no husbands, there are wives." According to Esposito, today in Naples "Anna Aieta is in charge", wife of Giugliano's chieftain Francesco Mallardo and sister of the wives of Patrizio Bosti and of the other inmate boss, Edoardo Contini. On the structure of the Bosti-Contini clan, Esposito affirms that, as in Cosa Nostra, "there are top management, but also other men subject to top management who have other enlisted people who pay directly". Nicola Rullo, a leading exponent of the organization, would, for example, have affiliates "who were not" baptized "by Edoardo and Patrizio" who "did not appreciate" that Rullo "had an army of his own". Esposito does not hide that he does not get along very well with his brother-in-law, Ettore Bosti. "He's unmanageable, he doesn't love anyone." And he would also be bloodthirsty, to the point of bragging about the crimes he committed, as when, Esposito claims, the young Bosti told him about a double murder, where even an innocent man had lost his life while watching a football match on television.
The clan, reveals the boss's brother-in-law, can count on "moles" in the police and in the "local police stations", most likely the police stations, to be warned of imminent blitzes and arrests. In the reconstruction of Esposito, Patrizio Bosti, currently in prison, receives 2500 euros every month, while 1500 goes to his son Ettore. But apart from this "salary", Bosti senior would receive another 15/16 thousand euros per month. Of himself, Esposito says: «I sell watches and have made a lot of money. All in black, but not of illicit origin. I'm very good at it ». He categorically excludes trading stolen or robbed watches, but prefers to buy them from footballers or show business people and then resell them, in the same environment or in different contexts, or use them "as money".

Re: News from Italy
Do Ndrangheta and Camorra groups have the same “must be Italian” rules for membership that Cosa Nostra does? Those 2 are in so many more different countries (Australia, Canada, Germany, Spain, etc) that the 100% Italian blood requirement seems like it would be harder and harder to maintain as time goes on.

Re: News from Italy
I would not quite agree that camorra are that international, their business might be at times, but their power is back home. The 'ndrangheta is different as it runs in concentric circles - the inner circle is always Calabrian - or southern italian - the associates are italian-descent when it comes to family (marriages) but not always - affinity works better than ethnicity for business. But then again, one rule for business, one rule for the organisation and the power.

Nearly 100 Arrested and $160 Million Seized in Crackdown on Camorra
WRITTEN BY DAVID KLEIN
April 27 2022
Italy put 95 suspects under restrictive measures in last week’s crackdown on two clans of the Neapolitan-based mafia group Camorra. The clans are believed to be controlling the drug trade and committing other crimes in parts of Naples they dominate.
Law enforcement detained 57 suspected members of Camorra’s Moccia clan which is believed to be trading drugs in Naples’ northern municipalities. Officers seized assets worth some US$162 million from the group, Italian state media reported.
The Carabinieri also said they arrested 38 other individuals believed to be connected to Camorra’s Massaro clan that also operates the drug trade in Campagnia.
Less prominent then the Calabria-based ‘Ndrangheta, Italy’s most powerful mafia group or Sicily’s Cosa Nostra, Camorra, whose historic territory is Campania and the region surrounding the economic center of Naples, is still a powerful force in the Italian underworld.
First founded in the 1960s, since the murder of it’s leader Genarro Moccia in 1974, the clan was led by his widow, Anna Mazza, who became the first woman in Italy to be convicted of mafia related crimes.
