When Gene Gotti Gets Out

Re: When Gene Gotti Gets Out
What always gets me is that DeCicco apparently assured Failla that he would be safe. Seems like a stupid move, basically admitting involvement in the conspiracy. No wonder Failla was a key part of the attempt on Gotti/DeCicco.

You're right, out of all the main conspirators he's the one that could have remained more so in the background. Why admit anything? Especially to a Castellano supporter such as Failla. Even more difficult to understan is that DeCicco had it pretty good under Castellano's wing.
Re: When Gene Gotti Gets Out
I have speculated before that DeCicco was an informant, so there may be a lot more to his story as far as loyalties are concernedrayray wrote:B. wrote:What always gets me is that DeCicco apparently assured Failla that he would be safe. Re: When Gene Gotti Gets Out
I think it might of been you B. that said Frankie DeCicco was possible-ably the one that dropped a dime to the feds on the last commission meeting that Paul Castellano went to (the meeting where are all the bosses are seen standing on the road waiting on there drivers). If it wasn't you B. the person who did say it broke it down to were it made a lot of sense to me that it was Frankie D that dropped the dime on that commission meeting.......SoliaiB. wrote:I have speculated before that DeCicco was an informant, so there may be a lot more to his story as far as loyalties are concernedrayray wrote:B. wrote:What always gets me is that DeCicco apparently assured Failla that he would be safe. it was greg scrap that gave it up
Re: When Gene Gotti Gets Out
Yep, that was me.
It was on the old board but I re-posted it here on this board: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=124&p=424
I also found this topic I forgot I made about the situation with DeCicco/Failla: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=561&p=7396

Re: When Gene Gotti Gets Out
That's another good possibility, but didn't greg cover up a lot for carmine sr and jerry lang to the feds? Did greg snitch and tell the feds a lot of things on the snake? For some odd reasons I had the impression that he was ratting on the other side not the snakes side to the feds.......Soliaibronx wrote:it was greg scrap that gave it up
Re: When Gene Gotti Gets Out
Bronx is wrong about that for a few reasons I listed in the thread I linked. O'Brien wasn't Scarpa's contact agent (informants don't randomly call other agents -- they have a specific contact agent and this relationship is designed to build trust and protect the informant's life), Scarpa wasn't in a position to know the details about the meeting, and it was specifically said to be a Gambino informant. If it had been Scarpa, it would have also shown up in his 302s.Soliai wrote:That's another good possibility, but didn't greg cover up a lot for carmine sr and jerry lang to the feds? As for Scarpa and Persico's relationship, it's confusing. There was a lot of animosity between them going back to the early 1960s and maybe earlier and this doesn't seem to have changed, but flash forward to the early 90s and he is among the most diehard Persico loyalists committing murders in his honor ("This one's for Carmine"). You could say he believed in the rule that the boss can't be deposed, but we know he couldn't give two shits about the rules as a lifelong informant.
Despite whatever his allegiance was for/against Persico, I don't think he tailored the info he gave to protect anyone except himself and maybe his son and other close associates.

Re: When Gene Gotti Gets Out
When was Gus Sclafani killed? Sounds like he was a very dangerous loyal soldier reporting directly to Castellano and then also close to Dellacroce doing hits for the latter. Sounds like someone DeCicco/Gotti/Gravano would want gone even without the DeCicco "rat" info.
This might be impossible to pinpoint but are there any other Castellano loyalists that were killed before the Castellano/Bilotti hit? Those guys that DeCicco/Gravano would not want around after the fact.

Re: When Gene Gotti Gets Out
GUS was a relative of joe butch, also with joe.
Re: When Gene Gotti Gets Out
So, the FBI clerks info would have been privy to Corrao too? Or did it go from Sclafani to Corrao? No matter how it went, it doesn't look like Corrao was the guy Sclafani should have trusted.bronx wrote:GUS was a relative of joe butch, also with joe.
Edit: according to Puparo's roaring 80's Gus Sclafani received the info then passed it on to Corrao with Sclafani disappearing around March 1, 1986
Looks like Sclafani, the mother-n-law and Corrao got caught somehow--in that case a double-whammy for Sclafani, getting caught and spreading rumors (even if true) wouldn't be hard for the new admin DeCicco to take out Sclafani.
Re: When Gene Gotti Gets Out
he trusted joe, but joe could not save him once paul was gone or joe would be gone also..
