Re: 1985 lists of made members for all families, unredacted
Chicago had at least 11 guys who were almost certainy made at the time this list was released. So 41 out of at least 52 members were accounted for.
Re: 1985 lists of made members for all families, unredacted
Thanks Scott. This is greatly appreciated.
Regarding Larry Petit, Mike Mags confirmed he was not made. I have my doubts about Phil Ponto and John Varelli too. I'd say probably more than 11 guys missing from the list. On top of my head this includes:
Jimmy Marcello
Tony Zizzo
John Matassa
Al Tocco
Nick Calabrese
Frank Demonte
John DiFronzo
Anthony Centracchio
Sam Carlisi
Al Tornabene
Joe Andriacchi
Lee Magnafichi
Frank Fratto
Rocco Salvatore
Queenie Simonelli (died 1985)
Joe Amato
Chuck English (killed 1985)
Skippy Cerone
Mike Glitta
That's 19 right there and I know I'm missing several others.
Sam Cozzo is a name that's usually missed, but Jimmy Cozzo's father was ID'd as a retired made guy. He owned the eatery where Richard Cain was killed and was a friend of Marshall Caifano. Don't recall seeing him on lists, which just shows that they're incomplete.

I was going with the 11 number just off the 1983 making ceremony. I had thought Varelli was one of the guys made in '56.

Amazing work, Scott. Thanks a ton.
Also for reference, Albany refers to the Albany FBI office which covered that entire region of NYS. The Falcone decina did have a couple members in Albany proper earlier on but I think all of the people on this list lived further west.

Thanks for posting these, Scott

You wrote that Varelli was possibly made in the 1956 ceremony. I agree that it's possible. Going through the FBI docs in Mary Ferrell, he could have been a member of Willie Potatoes' crew.

Yeah, I thought I saw it somewhere that made it seem more definite, but I can't remember.

My impression was that Jelly Cozzo was possibly a made guy, so it’s interesting to see him on this list.Antiliar wrote: ↑Sat Feb 19, 2022 4:33 pm Thanks Scott. This is greatly appreciated.

Good thinking. Johnny the Bug could’ve been another one of Daddono’s guys.Snakes wrote: ↑Sat Feb 19, 2022 6:31 pmYeah, I thought I saw it somewhere that made it seem more definite, but I can't remember.
I also note that they had Marcy, D’Arco, and Marzullo on the list but not Fred Roti.

Could probably also add Monteleone to Antilar's list
Re: 1985 lists of made members for all families, unredacted
The most Canadian of the current families
Re: 1985 lists of made members for all families, unredacted
So they were IDing certain Rochester members as under Buffalo at that time. We know from the Palma Boys tapes at least one "came in" a few years earlier.
Never heard of Donald DiCarlo in SD. Must be a relative of the famous ones?

I had thought Nicoletti Sr. was still alive in '85
and surprised to not see Benedetto Carcone on the list. Never heard Joe "Theresa" used. Anyone know where it comes from?

Joseph LaBarbara was identified as a Chicago guy in the sixties (on FBI lists and in the old "Mafia" book). He is listed here (if he is the same guy), so it could be assumed he either transferred or was a Buffalo guy all along.
