Dellacroce info

Notes:

- Doesn't seem to have been hard feelings between Dellacroce and Yacovelli as they associated for many years and Yacovelli was known to hang out at the Ravenite basically until the Gallo hit forced him to lay low and stay away from NYC.

- DeFeo and Dellacroce had a falling out later on but the informant believed they reconciled. Interesting DeFeo helped him after the Anastasia hit -- when Dellacroce helped Frank Lino after the three captains hit it sounds like he had been through a very similar situation himself.

- Not sure the story on Anastasia saving Dellacroce's life. Also not sure how killing Yak's partner would have helped his "rise to power" unless he was made in part for committing the murder.

- Yak was made by 1956/1957 as he sponsored Mooney Cutrone for membership during that time.

This is all really interesting info. Pete DeFeo was a very close family friend to my older relatives from that neighborhood. I’d love to know any details or tidbits about his and Neil’s falling out.

The Anastasia part about saving Neil‘s life, I wonder was that regarding him ending a contract on Neil’s life or doing something in response to an attempted hit on Neil.

Good stuff, B!

I think it was a business disagreement between DeFeo and Dellacroce but I'd have to go back and see if it mentions the details.

The attempted hit on Neil seems to be in reference to post-Anastasia's murder -- that might have contributed to him "coming in" and making peace with the new regime along with Rava's murder. Sounds like DeFeo protected him and reached out. Anastasia saving his life would have been earlier but the way it's worded is confusing.

Not related to Dellacroce but since this thread also deals with Colombo guys I thought this was funny. Shows even associates in NYC can be confused by important non-Italians like McIntosh and assume the traditions are gone:

Might say more about it later, but I saw some reports that make me wonder if Joey Gallo cooperated with the FBI after he was released from prison. We know his brother Larry did. There was a source very close to Joey in the 1970s (Larry was dead) who was able to quote him verbatim throughout an FBI interview and explain Gallo's thoughts on everything, to the point where he either had to be one of his closest confidants or was Joey himself. Wouldn't be surprising as sources said Gallo told people he didn't want his "button" anymore and had no interest in being part of Cosa Nostra around that time. Could well have been one of his close associates too though -- the Gallo faction seems ripe for informants.

Would Greg Scarpa have known the Gallos?

He knew them but wasn't their friend and definitely wasn't the source. Scarpa's info is always obvious and most of it is publicly available.

Another Colombo member was cooperating in the 1970s and may have been Lenny Dello. He wasn't the source with the Gallo faction either.

Gallo did have a secret ally in the Persico faction according to a source. Not clear if it was a member or associate but he had someone with that faction who kept him updated on the goings-on with that crew. We know Carmine was originally a Gallo supporter before he "came in" so there is a history there but by the 1970s Persico and Yacovelli were adamantly against Joey Gallo and seeking to kill him and the feeling was mutual. Joey Gallo blamed his brother Larry's cancer on them as he believed Larry got cancer because of the garrotting they gave him.
