Any sources for all those definitives?Rocco wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 6:42 am Ding Ding. Correct. Tony Ducks appointed and choose Buddy. Amuso a known Heroin dealer stole the family from Tonys Guy Buddy breaking LCN rules just like Gotti did. Maybe seeing Gotti still walking around in 86' gave Amuso some juice to pull it off. Either way..once Ducks found out Buddy was missing and he was presented with Amuso and Casso with the backing of Chrissy Tick. There wasn't a lot that Ducks could do from prison and it was presented to him like he didn't really have a choice in the matter. According to Tommy Ricciardi(the Jersey crew was always really close with the Bronx faction and not so much the Brooklyn guys) Guys in the Bronx and Jersey were really busted up about Buddy because everyone loved the guy and was looking forward to him as Boss. Guys were pretty shell shocked because Buddy was murdered without Commission approval. They didn't know what was gonna happen next. After Buddy went missing..guys started getting clipped.

The part of this version of events that I can’t wrap my head around is that Tony Ducks couldn’t do anything. His hand picked heir is murdered off the record and he does nothing. He has no options? In fact his options are so limited he actually has to hand the family over to the guy who did it!?! It’s hard to believe a legendary gangster like Tony Ducks would get played and punked like that.
Re: How Vic Amuso became the boss according to Vincent “Fish” Cafaro
tony ducks and chin have amuso plotting and killing gambinos guys threw out 1986 for killing a boss. amuso isnt gonna do that. he was apointed boss by ducks right atound when the commision trial went to jury i bet for a exact date. tony ducks didnt have buddy loungo involved with the plot to kill gotti with the genovese family.

Buddy Luongo disappeared on November 11th,1986, if I remember correctly. That means that Corallo still could do something about what happened.

Who were the Lucchese captains in Nov 86? Or important soldiers that could have stepped in to fill void other than Amuso and Casso?

A chart from 1987 shows names such as Michael Salerno from the Bronx who eventually was killed by Amuso because he was seen as a threat to Amuso because he was disappointed about not being in the new administration. He was killed right before Vic went on the run because he could have made a move to take the family overjohnny_scootch wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 4:43 am Who were the Lucchese captains in Nov 86? Joseph Abate,Samuel Castaldi,Peter DiPalmieri,Anthony Luongo and Michael Salerno,Samuel Cavalieri,Joseph DiPalermo,Paul Vario and Robert Amuso as Capo’s.Robert wasn’t a Capo during the time that you are referring to.
Castaldi,Cavalieri and Salerno definitely could have filled the void.Mariano Macaluso and Ettore Eddie Coco who were in the first administration under Amuso were also options.

Didn't it come out that Loungo was killed on orders from Corallo because he was making a power play with UnderBoss Sal Santoro?

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Luongo’s death, the situation is down to a lot speculation.I remember hearing something about Anthony DiLapi and Sal Santoro but not Santoro and Luongo.DiLapi was hit by Joseph D’Arco while George Zappola supervised itPogo The Clown wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 8:56 am Didn't it come out that Loungo was killed on orders from Corallo because he was making a power play with UnderBoss Sal Santoro?

Yeah this is what D'Arco said in his book. I don't think D'Arco is a liar but that was told to him by Casso and Amuso (probably Amuso) themselves so there is the grain of salt right there. But, there have been so many good points made in this thread. The Luongo thing was probably sanctioned, by someone other than Casso and Amuso themselves.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 8:56 am Didn't it come out that Loungo was killed on orders from Corallo because he was making a power play with UnderBoss Sal Santoro?

Love D'Arco's book and always used to think wow... Casso and Amuso were greedy goons. However I realized they all are greedy goons, and Amuso was calling some of the older Bronx old timers in, who were all gazillionares, for an accounting and breakdown of their rackets...and they balked. Going to go out on a limb and speculate that a lot of people in that family got used to autonomy and not kicking up what they should have been, for years, and Amuso rightfully as a boss should, was trying to get his arms around it. Instead he was met with blatant disrespect and he acted the only way acceptable in that life. There were cases later on when they were labeling people rats that weren't technically rats yet, but again...who knows. It would make sense that a rat wire would be put on Chiodo, he was for himself, disgruntled, had a wife/kids, a lot to lose, and was growing distant before the Windows indictment. It doesn't make sense that a random rat wire was put on someone like Mike Salerno though who wasn't under indictment, etc
Hard to say those two destroyed the family when Vic is still boss, still carries a lot of weight/respect, had and probably still has respect from the other familes, etc. Here I was on these boards back in like 2009-2010 thinking Amuso was just rotting away by himself in Jail and people like Crea and DiNapoli were in official positions running everything, and the Brooklyn guys who were coming home around that time were going to be shelved LOL. "Bronx told Brooklyn to kick rocks" , we find out none of that was remotely true at all

Salerno was killed because he was seen as a threat, there was some jealousy to from Salerno.I think he also didn’t fully reveal what he was earning from the garbage rackets that he had, if I remember correctly.Chiodo pled guilty to the Windows Case charges without permission from Vic and Gas who had a strategy to beat the case. What Chiodo did, didn’t help Amuso at all and also he broke the rules because he didn’t ask for permission to plead guilty. He also was hiding out at his home for a reason because Chiodo knew what he did was wrong.newera_212 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 9:29 amYeah this is what D'Arco said in his book. Amuso is not a bad boss, he was screwed by the people around him.His Underboss Casso, turned him into the FBI,plotted to kill his brother and even became an informant.D’Arco his Acting Boss, flipped and testified against him in 1992.Chiodo, one of his favourite Capo’s, messed up his strategy and flipped, testified against him along with D’Arco.Joe DeFede, allegedly stole from him as he was the Acting Boss then later flipped once Amuso wanted him dead in 2002.Also Frank Lastorino his Consigliere was put on the shelf because he also betrayed him by plotting to kill Vic’s brother along with Casso.
Amuso is the boss today for a reason, he’s well respected according to John Pennisi who also says that the respect Amuso earned while on the street through the way he conducted himself has helped him hold onto the boss position while in prison.

Ditto. I was singing the tune that Amuso was GONE and Crea was 100% official. Guys like PB didnt help. All bullshit.newera_212 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 9:29 am Hard to say those two destroyed the family when Vic is still boss, still carries a lot of weight/respect, had and probably still has respect from the other familes, etc. Here I was on these boards back in like 2009-2010 thinking Amuso was just rotting away by himself in Jail and people like Crea and DiNapoli were in official positions running everything, and the Brooklyn guys who were coming home around that time were going to be shelved LOL.
