The meeting that almost cost the Lucchese Family Underboss, Steven Crea, his life
In 2017, around the time when Steven Crea and Matthew Madonna were about to be indicted, Crea was called to a meeting which took place in the Bronx.Crea was called to meet Michael DeSantis,Patty Dellorusso,George “Georgie Neck” Zappola and Frank “Frankie Bones” Papagni who were all Brooklyn guys who are loyal to Vittorio “Vic” Amuso.Crea turned up alone, it is interesting to point that George Zappola plotted to kill Crea in the 90s and Zappola was at that meeting in the Bronx. If the meeting didn’t go how the Amuso loyalists had planned it to go then it was possible that Crea would have been murdered but not only him, his son Steven Crea Jr who was a Capo in the family. This was confirmed by John Pennisi who said “In reality, if Stevie hadn't gone along with the plan, he was going, 100 percent. We would’ve hit Stevie and his son, but then how much more could we have done? We’d be hot as firecrackers" after killing the two Creas.“
At the meeting, Crea was given a letter that Michael DeSantis had received from Vic Amuso who has been serving a life sentence for the past 29 years.Previously, DeSantis had reached out to Vic and said “There are guys out here loyal to you who want to bring the family back to Brooklyn” Vic had approved DeSantis taking the Acting Boss position.DeSantis was supposed to be the Acting Boss until George Zappola came of parole and then he would take the position but later once Zappola was of parole, he refused the position because he was to comfortable in Jersey. He is currently the Capo of the NJ Faction for the Lucchese Family. It is very interesting to point out that if Crea beat his 2017 racketeering and murder case then he would have been accepted as the new boss of the family.Pennisi said that everyone respected Stevie.Pennisi also said that Stevie Crea was looked at as the boss even before this whole sit down.
5 years later, here’s the status of the attendees of that meeting.
Crea did not beat the case and was sentenced to life.Steven Crea has appealed his conviction.
DeSantis is still the Acting Boss.
Patty was elevated to the Underboss position though this happened after Pennisi flipped which was in October of 2018
George Zappola is currently the Capo of the Lucchese’s New Jersey Faction. His acting Capo is Joseph Perna.
Frank “Frankie Bones” Papagni, his current position is unknown though Pennisi has speculated that he is the currently a Capo of a crew in Brooklyn (though that is of course if it was reinstated)

thing is crea is the official underboss he still has the final say over whoever the acting boss is i believe. this goes back to gerry catena and tommy ryan. hes on tape saying just that or something i forgot. but this gets so twisted. so crea leaves that meeting the offical underboss. he was shown the paper from vic that madonnas not acting boss anymore hes in jail correct?
Re: The meeting that almost cost the Lucchese Family Underboss, Steven Crea, his life
correct Madonna was sentenced to life as well. In reality there was really no reason for Crea to not adhere to Amuso's wishes. He has followed Amuso's wishes since Amuso went away for life. Also killed Crea would have brought heat as well as a loss of construction revenue.Pmac2 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 1:59 pm thing is crea is the official underboss he still has the final say over whoever the acting boss is i believe. this goes back to gerry catena and tommy ryan. hes on tape saying just that or something i forgot. but this gets so twisted. so crea leaves that meeting the offical underboss. he was shown the paper from vic that madonnas not acting boss anymore hes in jail correct?

Crea doesn’t have a say over who the Acting Boss is because Vic Amuso is the boss.Vic chooses who the Acting Boss is which is why DeSantis reached out to Vic to make this move to the top.DeSantis needed Amuso to approve it.Patty Dellorusso is now the Underboss but most likely not only in an Acting capacity because Crea didn’t beat the case.Pmac2 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 1:59 pm thing is crea is the official underboss he still has the final say over whoever the acting boss is i believe. this goes back to gerry catena and tommy ryan. hes on tape saying just that or something i forgot. but this gets so twisted. so crea leaves that meeting the offical underboss. he was shown the paper from vic that madonnas not acting boss anymore hes in jail correct?

Crea had to know that if convicted , he would be replaced. At least by an acting underboss. Madonna was an acting, he was already in prison and kept the acting position till the change came from Vic. I dont think these guys were surprised that they were replaced. And from what I remember wasnt Crea going to keep his underboss position if he wins the case.
Re: The meeting that almost cost the Lucchese Family Underboss, Steven Crea, his life
Its also interesting the comments from Pennisi that they would respect Crea as boss if he beat his case or was it if Vic died. Rocco said it well, there was no reason for Crea to not adhere to Amusos wishes Same with Madonna. But what I wonder is was this more over money than titles?

It was about about bringing the family back to Brooklyn.Since Louie Bagels Daidone was arrested in 2003, the power has shifted back to the Bronx Faction because Amuso made a ruling panel which consisted of Matthew Madonna,Joseph DiNapoli and Aniello Migliore. All guys who were from the Bronx Faction.DeSantis and the other Amuso loyalists wanted to bring the family back to Brooklyn.Frank wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 6:08 pm Its also interesting the comments from Pennisi that they would respect Crea as boss if he beat his case or was it if Vic died. Why do you keep making threads about things that are common knowledge?

Paul LoDuca botched the hit because he loaded up with birdshot instead of shotguns shells, Neil’s lucky day.Little_Al1991 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 10:23 am

Pennisi also told a version of the Buddy Luongo story where Buddy was Tony Ducks protege and was going to take over but Vic killed him on the sneak without an ok from Tony and Tony still gave him the family. Which doesn’t make much sense to me but who knows? I guess anything is possible.

Learned things I didn’t know on that post, didn’t know Neil was made at 21 years old. Imagine the competition & how tough it was way back then to get made & be around legendary figures like Lucchese & that guy that mentored him. Never heard of him.Little_Al1991 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 10:23 amPennisi recently made a post on his website, Sitdown news which talked about the attempt on Migliore’s life.CornerBoy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 9:33 amneil migliore and joe dinapoli are 100 x's the men than Amuso isLittle_Al1991 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 12:50 amIt was about about bringing the family back to Brooklyn.Since Louie Bagels Daidone was arrested in 2003, the power has shifted back to the Bronx Faction because Amuso made a ruling panel which consisted of Matthew Madonna,Joseph DiNapoli and Aniello Migliore. Migliore was actually made much later. In 1980 with Tommy Ricciardi.

I was wondering if Pennisi actually had heard that version of how Vic took the family over or if he had just got the info on the internetjohnny_scootch wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 11:08 amPaul LoDuca botched the hit because he loaded up with birdshot instead of shotguns shells, Neil’s lucky day.Little_Al1991 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 10:23 am

Yes, I understand that part it. But also you have to know the whole history of Crea to understand his standing in the Family and his standing with Amuso.Little_Al1991 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 12:50 amIt was about about bringing the family back to Brooklyn.Since Louie Bagels Daidone was arrested in 2003, the power has shifted back to the Bronx Faction because Amuso made a ruling panel which consisted of Matthew Madonna,Joseph DiNapoli and Aniello Migliore.
