John Pennisi has revealed that George Zappola was supposed to become the Acting Boss of the Lucchese Family when the transition happened in 2017 though he could not at the time because he was on parole so the position went to Michael DeSantis.According to Pennisi after Zappola went of parole, he could have took the Acting Boss position and Mikey DeSantis could have just become the Underboss or the Consigliere but he didn’t want to be the Acting Boss as he was happy in Jersey by the time the opportunity arrived.

George Zappola is a very serious guy who carries a lot of respect and now that he is the Capo of the Jersey Faction is interesting because I thought that he would have become a Capo in Brooklyn if they did make a new crew but he’s happy in Jersey.If Michael DeSantis does get indicted it is highly possible that Zappola will have to step into the Acting Boss position, a position he didn’t want once he came of parole because he was fine in Jersey.
