Just fully read the indictment and it does seem like the Union Leader is cooperating. Looks like they where pressing him to much for more money and the threats to kill him and his family probably didn’t help
Also looks like Persico Jr was blatantly ignoring his parole lmao. He straight up had multiple meetings with Russo,Castellanzo and Uvino. Looks like the guy went out of his way to bring heat out on everyone

Colombos were NEVER weak or finished they were weak compared to the Genevese and Gambinos. This proves they are still powerful for in this day and age them still being involved in Union scams.Do you guys think any other crime group other than LCN is involved in this kind of crime. The Mexican Mafia in LA has cartel connection and huge mexican demographics and the best they could do is tax local gangmembers
Re: Colombo family boss, 11 others busted in NYC mob sweep: feds
If I remember Union leader James Cahill seemed tl be doing something for the Serbian Gang “Group Amerika” but it looks like he was under the Gambinos and probably had more for him being a former Westies member than anything

I’ve heard posters say that indictments are indicative of how active a family is. Seems that the Colombo’s are continually being indicted yet are considered the weakest out of the NY5…
Re: Colombo family boss, 11 others busted in NYC mob sweep: feds
Don't think they're getting indicted more than anyone else. Since 2000 the Bonanno and Lucchese Families probably have been hit the most.
Re: Colombo family boss, 11 others busted in NYC mob sweep: feds
Yeah not to mention the bonannos have had like 15+ made guys cooperate in the 20 yrs alone and like constant non stop hierarchy busts
Also when I think about it why weren’t there more associates/soldiers indicted in this bust. Pretty much all high level guys involved in this one and very little from the actual crews themselves
Also anyone believe there are going to be more arrests in the near future?

Isn't it usually the bosses and captains that control unions? I've always thought of labor racketeering as being above a soldier's paygrade. When soldiers get busted it's usually for street-level crimes like bookmaking, gambling, loansharking, drug trafficking, extortion, etc.Dave65827 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 9:25 pm Yeah not to mention the bonannos have had like 15+ made guys cooperate in the 20 yrs alone and like constant non stop hierarchy busts

itself. The underbelly of the crime families in New York City is alive and well. These soldiers, consiglieres, underbosses, and bosses are obviously not students of history and don't seem to comprehend that we're going to catch them," added FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge Michael Driscoll in another statement Tuesday.
I agree with you. These other criminal organizations and gangs are totally overhyped by Hollywood and the media in the past 20 years. IMO even in 2021 in USA Dominican, Mexican, Russian, Chinese, Albanian, African American, Puerto Rican etc criminal organizations are not serious competition for what the F.B.I. calls traditional organized crime, the Italian mob. They do not demonstrate the established criminal sophistication of traditional La Cosa Nostra (LCN) organisations.

I agree. Only attrition can slowly destroy the 5 families. Italian crime families in USA have a very solid hierarchical structure, with people in place to step in when someone gets taken out or goes to prison. Other criminal organizations don't have that kind of hierarchical structure. That is why LCN is so resilient.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 5:57 pmThe NY families are virtually indestructible from a purely law enforcement standpoint. RICO indictments, informants, etc. certainly help by speeding the process along but its ultimately a slow waiting game for attrition to do its job.nizarsoccer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 5:50 pmLooking at this indictment, + Amato + thomas farase, they bounced back well after the 2011 indictment.funkster wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 5:32 pmIndeed. Continues to say they'll bounce back even after this.Amershire_Ed wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 5:12 pmPennisi has been throwing cold water on the idea that “Colombos are weak and on their last leg” for a while now.

The Mexican mafia and other ethnic criminal organizations and gangs are mostly confined to their communities. They don't really venture out of their ethnic communities. You can't compare them with LCN.bluehouse wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 8:39 pm Colombos were NEVER weak or finished they were weak compared to the Genevese and Gambinos. This proves they are still powerful for in this day and age them still being involved in Union scams.Do you guys think any other crime group other than LCN is involved in this kind of crime. The Mexican Mafia in LA has cartel connection and huge mexican demographics and the best they could do is tax local gangmembers

Yes but demographically, Italian Americans have very much moved from the working to middle classes. Therefore recruitment becomes a much harder sell to the next generation. The Hispanic (for want of a better catch-all descriptor) gangs, don't have that and therefore have a much bigger recruitment pool.Nick Prango wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 12:23 amThe Mexican mafia and other ethnic criminal organizations and gangs are mostly confined to their communities. Like realistically, who are the next generation of members for the Colombos? Are there 20 'kids' aged between 18-30 interested in it?
Re: Colombo family boss, 11 others busted in NYC mob sweep: feds
Gravano said in one of his videos that Andy Russo was the acting boss for Tom DiBella in the mid-late 1970s. If that's true he's been on and off the admin for almost 45 years, before Carmine Persico was official boss. He was the obvious choice to succeed Persico.
Pennisi's take on the Colombos is one of the more intelligent ones I've heard, saying they're the weakest family but some of their crews are more powerful and respected than others. Said the larger families similarly have some crews that are weaker and less respected. No question the Colombos are at the bottom of the NYC pecking order, but between the fake Persico rat rumor and this bust, this group just keeps taking major blows. Amazing how resilient they are given the circumstances.
