Any idea why the Pernas didn’t like Nicky jr to begin with?

I mean just listen to Stevie’s pep talk at the induction ceremony that AP recorded. This was all about getting back their AC rackets that Nicky Jr had when he was operating in AC area.

A lot more will be coming out soon on the Nicky Jr / Philly LCN dynamic if Stevie and Dom go to trial to fight their charges because they aren’t able to work out a favorable plea deal.

I’m not even sure though if AP will have to testify and take the stand though because he brought an FBI undercover agent into the fold who can testify who is A LOT more credible than AP.

AP wasnt even a trusted and credible person within the life, not many people trusted him which is why the indictment only hit the Mazzone/Grande wing of the family and the associates on the fringes who dealt in drugs and scams like Sharkey, etc.

AP was only able to get to Dom G because Dom inherited him into his crew, so he unfortunately had AP under him.

It boils down to money bro , money makes the world go around if you haven’t noticed yet. I would bet anything that it was a combo of they were thinking these guys could bring in the same kind of money they were pulling in when they were under Nicky Jr and also Philly wanted their AC rackets back because AC has always been Philly’s turf.

Don’t forget Nicky Jr’s AC crew for a time was buying planes, yachts, and had some really high end cars they were cruising around AC area in.

Money bro that’s why they let them in.

In their defense, they didn’t let in Nicky Jr’s whole entire crew that was still left out on the streets - just Sammy and AP.

They left out that clown Todd Stark and I don’t think they had anything to with Nicky Jr’s cousin JP. There were a few other associates on the fringes in AC.

The Pernas never liked Nicky Jr, and they tolerated him because the boss did. But something happened, I think it was the announcement that the feds had been building a case against him & Pelullo, that cause Nicky Jrs stature to be questioned. The Pernas took that opportunity to go and complain to the boss of the family at the time, and when he got the news that they were going to take Nicky Jr down and replace him with one of the Perna brothers. They couldn’t wait to get back to Jersey and let Scarfo Jr. know this, by going directly to him and telling him that he’d been taken down and was no longer a captain.

His legal issues, as well as reports that had come out about supposedly wanting to make a move on Philly territory and recruiting people there. I don't know how much of that was actually true. The Operation Heat affidavit mentioned him requesting to be released from the Lucchese family and moving to Florida while maintaining a residence in Atlantic City. The Pernas definitely used all this to their advantage.

Great follow-up of information. I had almost forgotten that he’d been accused of plotting a coup in Philly with the Merlino ran Philadelphia Crime Family. Had he succeeded in such a plot, it always interested me on what he assumed he’d do next. Would he had them started claiming to be the boss of the new generation Bruno/Scarfo Mob, or would he just have planted his flag and oversaw Philly for the Luccheses.

There was a guy on the RealDeal forum around 2007 who said Sammy Piccolo had been made and was active in South Jersey. It was some guy who only posted a few times, no idea who it was but as more info comes out he seems to have been right. Not a soul on the boards was talking about Piccolo at that time, as he was only known publicly for the cocaine case in the 90s.

Sammy was indeed living in AC and operating in the AC area at the time under Nicky Jr. in his crew.

There was an article out around 2006ish by George Anastasia in the Philly Inquirer that talks about Nicky Jr moving back to AC and putting together a crew that was shaking down businesses in AC, Sammy was one of the guys in that crew.

The Philly guys around that time had the Bookmaking operation in The Borgata running full throttle during that time period in AC as well. That operation was under Mikey Lance’s crew with Nicodemo as the main overseer as a soldier with a young Associate in his 20s at the time who just started gravitating over to LCN from the 10th and O crew by the name of Dom Grande who also happens to be Sammy’s nephew.
