Believe it or not I've never actually watched the Sopranos, other than some clips here and there, but I intend to. But other stuff keeps getting in the way.

I think I'll watch this origin story first and then watch the series, maybe.

Wow. It's really the only other thing on par with the Godfather movies, Goodfellas and Casino.

I don’t ever remember Tony being called Antonio in the show, only Anthony or Tony and I thought it was discussed in the show that Tony B had been the one given a high IQ in school.

I think he's playing Aldo Moltisanti who is Dickie's father.

Yeah. In the show they never mentioned that Tony Soprano had been given a high IQ in school.

Wow, comes out in October I had completely forgotten about this movie until now. Thank god for hbo max, won’t have to trek to a theater thankfully.

All of you are more confident than me. I have very low expectations. The trailer appears to be the B-movie Brooklyn mob "stuff" on Amazon Prime.

Go back and look at the previews/episode recaps for the series. They're terribly produced, for the most part. I'm expecting it to be good but I don't think that's unreasonable based on David Chase's rep.

I trust David Chase but I’m scared how this movie doesn’t have all Italian-American actors from NJ and NY like the series did, that really scares me.

The series was so authentic in terms of being an Italian-American in Jersey during that exact time period of 1999-2007.

Lol. Under promise and over deliver, that is the motto I tell my staff to follow.

I recall that but wasn’t there a conversation in the show about how Tony Bs mom let it slip that Tony Bs IQ was high and the implication was Tony S wasnt supposed to know about it to save him from being embarrassed or something.

Do you put a lot of stock into that number?

Tony B’s IQ was 158, which is extremely high (99.995 percentile) while if Tony S was 136 he was in the very high range (99+ percentile), but he would still have something to be jealous about. Based solely on IQ, Tony S is almost always the most intelligent person in the room, but not when Tony B is there. As Tony S told Melfi as well: “I took that test and if someone gets a 158, they know a few things”, indicating that he had some basis to care about someone’s IQ results, that this was something that mattered to him. So I think him testing as high IQ as a kid is consistent with a couple hints that were dropped during the series.
