Ancestry of Carlo Gambino
Called the "Boss of Bosses," Carlo Gambino was possibly the most powerful Mafia don this country has ever known. Born in Sicily, Carlo immigrated to New York City aboard the S.S. Vincenzo in 1921and joined the mob. Over his 50 year criminal career, he was involved with everything from gambling to hijacking but served only 22 months in prison. The Supreme Court ordered him to be deported in 1970 but a series of heart attacks delayed his leaving the country. He eventually died of a series of heart attacks in 1976.
