isn't Corsentino the double decker coffin guy? I thought he died in the mid 90s. how would he meet him if this was in the 2000s?

That was the father Carlo. He met the son Carl. Both of them are made members.

Thanks for the info. Shows how sloppy the DeCavalcantes are. It took Pistone years before he was dealing with any major players yet Giovanni appears out of nowhere and within months is dealing with Capos and being introduced to the administration.

It also looks like untaxed cigarettes and stolen property is a main racket for the family with the Riggi, Stango and Collina Crews all being involved with it.

There was also that subplot where the Sopranos high jacked a truckload of Centrum vitamins. One of the charges in the 1999 DeCavlacante indictment was hijacking 29,000 packages of Centrum vitamins.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

The 1999/2000 bust gutted them and they never recovered. Losing Local 394 in 2006 sealed it. They seem to have been scraping by ever since. It's always been interesting how few gambling cases they've had. Almost completely squeezed out of the Jersey market by the NY families.

DeCavs were never really into bookmaking here in Jersey. They were always heavily involved in anything to do with Construction, untaxed cigarettes, stolen goods, and extortion.

He must be the first made member named "Kyle".
The year 2040 there will be made guys “Brad” and “Chad” next lol.

It's gonna be like that George Carlin bit about names. Next thing you know there will be a member named Todd Gambino.

Outside of a few companies, construction (once their "lifeblood"), appears to be gone. I don't know how much a family, even a small one, can survive on bootleg cigarettes and stolen goods.

He does say the Whip is a made guy in the sentence before that. I think they were using "Scarfo associate" just to say that's who he was affiliated with.

You're right he did meet Joe Collina once at his house to drop off money from Stango because Joe was old, sick and not earning but he wasn't at the party when Oliveri had the incident with Sclafani. The meeting with Majuri you speak of I can't find it, is that info from the book or somewhere else??

From the book.

Some of the members I eventually met, men like Charlie “Big Ears” Majuri, and Luca “Milk” Vitale, were the sons and grandsons of mobsters who had been involved in the creation of the LCN Commission back in the 1930s. That organization ...

One thing I found really annoying, was how about every other page he talks about how he was worried he was being setup to be killed. Like every situation he describes he's talking about making sure he had a way out, or that his backup wasn't with him, or that he was always keeping an eye on some guy because he was worried he'd pull a gun and shoot him. Once or twice mentioning it is dangerous is okay. But I counted at least half a dozen times in just a couple chapters. Decavalcantes haven't killed anyone in 15 or so years at this point in time, so I get being wary, but calm down a little. Doubt you're high on list of potential mob hits.

Overall, I found it reads like a guy who really really really wanted to be Joe Pistone, but he was dealing with a bunch of losers 35 years after Pistone and had to talk it up. But, I'll read anything with a take on the more modern mob. Something from the streets in 2014-2015 I'm always going to read over another rehash of Gotti.

Milk is Merlo. Luca Vitale is a fake name the book uses
