Let's get back on track. Riddle me this....

Since you guys want to talk about Crea so much. Let's talk about him and others who have gone to trial facing informants - using your examples. Explain to me if Pennisi deserves a pass for a 10-year-old murder (in which he killed an innocent man) for which he paid his debt...then why is it that Crea or any other defendant isn't given the same treatment for convictions in which they've also paid their debts?

In a trial, the prosecution is allowed to bring up the defendant's previous convictions in detail. But when it comes to informants - the defense isn't allowed to bring it up. So, how exactly is that fair? In fact, in Pennisi's case, the Kuper murder was only allowed to be referenced as "a serious crime" in all three of the trials he testified at. Is that fair? There's a huge difference between a "serious crime" and "murder" or "manslaughter."

You really set yourself up with these guys. All these stupid arguments and although I agree with the sentiment that Crea and Madonna were railroaded, you really have to take a more balanced stance if you don’t want to get constant shit. The hating on a Pennisi just because he testified against Crea is ridiculous. You take such a hardline on scum and lose composure and open yourself up to these arguments which you are better then. Thanks, Timmoffat. I don't "hate" Pennisi and I don't have a "personal vendetta" against him, but you're right in that I'm wasting my time with these arguments.

That being said, I'm more of a listener than a talker and if I went on I'd start asking Pennisi where his family is from and start talking recipes, Tom would be sitting there with a WTF look. I know my limitations. But B. and Antiliar, they would come up with great questions on the spot, have a very interesting back and forth and Tom/John/listeners would even learn a few things. Not that they're going to teach John anything about the life as an amico nos, but they'll ask questions and make connections that John might not have noticed when he was in it. I very strongly believe that those conversations would be amazing, educational and informative.

Remember how in Donnie Brasco, Pistone talks about him and Lefty meeting with those drug dealers and the dealers suddenly canceled the deal not because they were afraid of Lefty, but because they felt "Donnie" had the eyes of a killer?

That's how I feel when I look at Tom.
