Lack of NYC Fed indictments
Lately, there hasn’t been any major federal RICO busts on the five families in nyc. Some soldiers have been charged here and there but the arrests weren’t substantial blows to the family. Realistically the families will regroup in the meantime. I honestly think the feds have indictments coming for the Gambinos and the Bonannos, however it’s hard to tell if it’ll reach each family’s admin. Are some mobsters outsmarting the feds or are they getting lucky?

The December 2019 indictment of the Campos crew was the last big one. The Amato bust a couple months before that. Things were pretty quiet throughout 2020, no doubt due to covid more than anything. Still waiting for them to bring a case against Frank Camuso, which Capeci has mentioned a few times.

Re: Lack of NYC Fed indictments
2019 was a huge year for feds
They had the bonanno case.... Lukes... Chins son... All three big cases.
Then corona came.
I wish we could head more about the bonanno family aftermath from being shelved

Capeci has written multiple times that a DeSantis indictment is almost assuredly coming.
Re: Lack of NYC Fed indictments
I think it was COVID putting a temporary hold on things. Doesn’t help that where the mob is still active have some of the countries strictest COVID lockdowns.

Does this mean the NYC families are not viable?

I was waiting for someone to make an apples-to-bowling balls comparison, if even in jest.

The FBI has moved on from trying to fight the mafia and now they're trying to dismantle western society.
Re: Lack of NYC Fed indictments
I remember the nypost posted an an article idk maybe 2 yes ago when DeSantis was named acting boss that indictments were coming... it remind me of the sopranos episode when they are at the wedding and Junior says "you see indictments under your bed at night..."
I don't the feds have enough and I don't think Pennisi has enough to get them there either

Re: Lack of NYC Fed indictments
I think the DA is generally aiming at taking down more dangerous/ murderous organizations like ms 13/ 18 street. Unlike the mob, those gangs kill people like its nothing. They’ll kill someone for just looking like a rival gang member, and im not even exaggerating... Anyways I’m still surprised at the lack of mob arrests made by the agents. I have a feeling that the Camuso case might turn out to be a bigger case than I originally expected, with several crews getting taken down. As for the Westside, I honestly think that the feds won’t ever nail Barney like they’ve always wanted to. A future arrest is almost inevitable but I can’t imagine the feds managing to pin murder/ attempted murder/ drugs on Barney. I believe that ship sailed in 2008 when the Ralph Coppola murder charges were dropped. I have a feeling that the Desantis indictment will be on the way sooner rather than later. Maybe by the end of the year.

It's important to keep things in the correct perspective. While you can definitely see a difference in the number of cases, say 2000-2010 vs. 2011-2020, over the past decade there has continued to be a fairly steady number of cases against the NY LCN families. And that's even with the FBI only devoting 2 squads with a max of 35 agents to it since 2013.

Re: Lack of NYC Fed indictments
Also... Covid hit them too just like everyone else.
Like I said 2019 , aquitted or not, they made 3 cases against 3 fams. I'm actually surprised Lukes lost and cammarano et Al won..
But ya... 2019.... Then covid.
Now the world hadda take a step back.
And since then there's been a few outside of NYC...

Re: Lack of NYC Fed indictments
Thats true but few of the cases reached a family’s administration. Dom Cefulu of the Gambinos has managed to run the Gambinos for a decade without getting indicted. Previously in 08-2011, the feds were arresting Gambino bosses left and right like Danny Marino, Bobby Vernace, and Jackie D’Amico. Its possible that laying low, combined with the FBI having bigger targets than the mafia, have contributed to the mob’s comeback.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 3:28 pm It's important to keep things in the correct perspective. In NY there are most gangs that killing more people that mob in the last decade and is more easy to built a case against them that to the mob.
