Re: Most feared Philly made guy over last 20 years?
One thing that I’ve always thought was funny is that around the turn of the century, the New York families basically made murder illegal except for extreme circumstances. And this was because all the bodies were causing too many guys to flip and getting too many guys multiple life sentences and just making things too hot & so forth.
Philly basically ignores this rule and drops a number of bodies (in proportion to the size of their borgata) over the next 20 years and they have basically no one flip that was involved in violent crime. And Anastasia and Schratweiser, etc attribute it to those guys all being really close friends before CN. And it makes me think of the number one complaint you hear from Italian magistrates and prosecutors when it comes to prosecuting the ‘Ndrangheta—which is that none of them will tell on each other because they are all related. And I know Philly isn’t the only borgata to have a bunch of guys grow up around each other but they just seem different to me. Seems like even though they love the life, their allegiance to each other comes first.

It’s funny you say that because yes Joey is a stone cold killer and gangster and is what he is in that life but if you ever meet him in person when he’s out having fun, he’s actually pretty polite, gives you the time of day, and is charismatic/funny ball breaker.
Not to mention I’m 5’11 and I felt like an NBA Player standing next to him. He’s one of the least intimidating guys in the world out of that crew is what I’m trying to say but obviously he is what he is in that life.
However - No one you will ever come across in that life is more kind, polite, welcoming, well mannered, classy, upbeat, positive, etc than Uncle Joe.
I literally just saw him last week when I was in Packer Park visiting my boy for the Mets at Phillies series. He smiled and waved at me with some polite banter back and forth. Uncle Joe is a real class act, but also again a stone cold killer and made it to the very top in that life.
Uncle Joe looks great by the way these days, youngest 81 year old I’ve ever seen in my life. He is showing zero signs of slowing down, if I didn’t know any better I would think he was in his late 60s.

I've met Bobby Cabert many times as a kid and a young adult in the early 80s. He was a happy , kind and polite guy. But he was a stone killer. Being a polite gentlemen and having a goodtime doesn't mean people don't fear you if you cross them. Got nothing to do with it. People have said Hitler was kind and fun guy too.....lol Nicodemo , Dom Grande...they all wanna be the cowboy Joey was in the 90s. They look up to him. But hey also fear him....NJShore4Life wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 5:26 amIt’s funny you say that because yes Joey is a stone cold killer and gangster and is what he is in that life but if you ever meet him in person when he’s out having fun, he’s actually pretty polite, gives you the time of day, and is charismatic/funny ball breaker.

Agree for the most part with all you said except with the camera thing which again you are spot on because everyone has a RING door device but there are literally 1-3 murders every night in Philly, basically No,rth Philly; it is just still insane to me that Nicodemo and Dom (basically) got caught with that dipietro murder and there are near 200 unsolved murders right now this year in Philly....crazy times...and of course the OC unit and feds have it out for the philly family as opposed to the corner boys in north west and now south phillyNJShore4Life wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 6:11 am Canalichio and Nicodemo are the two hitters they have used throughout most of the 2000s.
There’s going to be a new crop of younger guys they would use for hits if there are ever even any in the future, only time will tell. You gotta be insane to order a hit in these times with cameras on every corner.
There’s young guys involved with Philly looking to prove themselves and move up, your guess would be as good as mine on who they would use as the next Canalichio’s, Nicodemo’s, and Grande’s....

I'd say Joey on this topic, bar none. And I would support exactly what Dante and Rocco posted. Joey is like the pied piper when he's out and about, 20 guys waiting around to see him and say three words to him and the same five-ten guys circling him keeping anyone away he doesn't want to see. He's funny and irreverent but he's no fucking joke. He's got a celebrity feel to him, it's hard to explain.
Joe Ligambi is a nice guy and a class act. Dante is 100% right. He will joke and talk to you with a smile on his face like he's happy to see you.

Yeah Dame’s been out probably over a year now give or take. He was at the shore a lot this past summer and all over South Philly/South Jersey.

Anyone know what crew dames in???? He’s done a lot of time for the family but it’s not like you can really give him a promotion to captain cause there’s already so many high ranking guys...NJShore4Life wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 2:48 pm Yeah Dame’s been out probably over a year now give or take. Philly for sure hasn’t been shy when it comes to murder in the 2000s if it has to be done.. I don’t know exactly what dipietro had on them, but it had to be something for them to risk hitting him... something bigger than whatever ratting he did previously I would assume ...
As for nicodemo getting caught... obviously a horrible set up him driving his own car and the gun left in there.. but it seems like they literally would have got away with it if it was minutes before or after, the only thing that got them was the mailman seeing them, correct? I mean even if he didn’t see them I’m sure they could pull cameras and see nicodemo drive home, I’m surprised they didn’t try to pull any cameras that caught him dropping off the shooter???
All they had to do was get a stolen car.. or at least borrow a vehicle and use stolen plates... I think nicodemo just was over confident...

Yeah they were probably just overconfident everything would go fine because all the other work done over the last decade had gone really smooth.
Reminds me of Bill Burr’s joke about Arnold Schwarzenegger getting caught banging his house maid. He said “this guy emerged from obscurity in some far away country to become the most famous body builder in the world, then learned English and became one of the worlds biggest movie stars, *then*, as if that wasn’t enough, he became the freaking gov of California. Banging his maid? That’s a fucking layup.”
