My understanding was that Joe Pitts Conigliaro was a made guy in the Gambinos, who used to pal around with DeCav soldier Jimmy Gallo?

Jimmy Pitts was the nickname of James Gallo. Was there another Jimmy Pitts in the Gambinos? My memory is hazy.

My understanding is that Joseph Conigliaro (Red Hook, BK Gambino guy) was called “Joe Pitts”. I’ve read in a couple different places that Conigliaro was a made soldier in the Gambino family. But then when Conigliaro was killed in 1988, the NY Times described him as a Gambino “associate”, but what the hell do I know. All I know is that he wasn’t a capo for the DeCavs.

Maybe the above article mixed him up with Jimmy Gallo, who Conigliaro was close to for years (IIRC Gallo put Conigliaro in a wheelchair for the rest of his life after accidentally shooting him when they tried to clip some other guy).

Sorry I read it too fast and read Joe as Jimmy. You are right. Neither were Capos.

The book Made Men about the Decavalcantes has a whole chapter on Joe Pitts and his murder.

Didn't Bugsy Siegel unsuccessfully audition for Hollywood movies or is that a myth?
