Re: Northwest Indiana / Chicago Heights Mafia
I think Jim Tortoriello who was Mugsy's son and MArk's brother was working with Sarno while he was in Florida. He hooked his son up with those guys and his son (Formato) wore a wire, right? Jimmy Torotriello died before the indictment came down.
Only in Cicero can the son and grandson of a family like that become a cop. It's amazing really how many strings had to have been pulled there - these guys only rat or flip when the Feds come in.

Or Berwyn rather I guess - which is just as corrupt in my view. Even more so honestly.
Re: Northwest Indiana / Chicago Heights Mafia
Interesting to note is that some reports say that Jimmy Tortoriello was allegedly “exiled” from the Chicago area by his former cohorts and fled down to Florida, from where, according to the feds, he continued to deal with narcotics, while other reports say that he was the main South Florida overseer of the dope transportation for the Chicago faction. Theres also a story that Tortoriello was allegedly killed by some Colombian gang....before his murder or in 1982, two carloads of gunmen sprayed Tortoriello’s house at Deerfield Beach street...doesnt sound like an Outfit job...

Re: Northwest Indiana / Chicago Heights Mafia
What's interesting about NW Indiana is that in 1983/84, the FBI identified the major Outfit guys in that area as Dominick Palermo, Nick Guzzino, Frank Zizzo, Bernard Morgano, Albert Roviaro, and Al Rosetti. No mention of Al Tocco is made. Everything collected in NW Indiana is then given to Palermo (not Tocco) to kick up to the Outfit bosses. Tocco is very rarely mentioned as being involved with NW Indiana, which leads me to believe that either the territory was split between he and Palermo (with Palermo and Zizzo running NW Indiana) or, more likely, Palermo being the overall boss of the area, as Zizzo was described as kicking up to him. Palermo was described as being "direct" with Outfit leadership. Now, whether or not Tocco eventually overtook overall leadership of the area may still be up for debate. At any rate, Palermo was back in charge after Tocco's imprisonment -- if he was not already the #1 guy.

Or one of them inherited LaPortes previous position and the other took care of the day-to-day ops....Snakes wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 8:21 am What's interesting about NW Indiana is that in 1983/84, the FBI identified the major Outfit guys in that area as Dominick Palermo, Nick Guzzino, Frank Zizzo, Bernard Morgano, Albert Roviaro, and Al Rosetti. Wasnt there some meeting during the mid or late 80s that was hosted by Tocco?

Yes. Tocco also had a Greek wife and was a fugitive in Greece until the FBI captured him and he later was killed in prisonVillain wrote:Wasnt there some meeting during the mid or late 80s that was hosted by Tocco?

Re: Northwest Indiana / Chicago Heights Mafia
Al "Caesar" Tocco murdered in prison?
Re: Northwest Indiana / Chicago Heights Mafia
I don't think so. He had a stroke unless this poster is alleging some sort of cover up.
Re: Northwest Indiana / Chicago Heights Mafia
Tocco died of natural cause
Re: Northwest Indiana / Chicago Heights Mafia
No he was not killed in prison. That is for sure false.
