Thanks. Clears that up. Didn't Capeci write something too that JP never said? I can't remember the details about that just that something happened.Dave65827 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 9:51 amHe says it was a mistake on his Instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CMSL0MdjwPk ... wdra3nllz7mafiastudent wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 9:27 amWhen did that happen? Re: John Pennisi Sighting / Sit Down News
Pennisi talked about it on one of their MBA-Button Man shows. I think Capeci wrote something that wasn’t true, and he also alerted judges and attorneys that Pennisi had planned to write a blog before he put it out, which pissed Pennisi off. Then apparently months later there was a news story involving Pennisi that Capeci wanted to write about. He called Pennisi to ask if he could get the first crack at the story. Pennisi agreed under the condition that Capeci plug the MBA and Button Man show in the article. Capeci agreed but didn’t follow thru on his end of the bargain.
I thought it was interesting though...Pennisi said when he was still in the street that there were definitely mob guys that read Capeci’s stuff on Gangland. He said John Castelluci was frequently reading Capeci and filling their crew in on what was written. But he says Capeci’s sources have flipped from almost entirely Feds/prosecutors to defense attorneys. He said there are mob lawyers that have a relationship with Capeci where they can feed him stuff that will make their client look good. *shrugs*

I don't know what was said before/after this, but in context with the rest of the quote it sounds like he's saying within the mafia subculture it was considered an honor to be made captain. Doesn't read like it's self-referential.mafiastudent wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 9:27 am When did that happen? Him becoming a capo? Seems the article ran with that anyway and called him a "capo." The media and people with a casual interest in the mob are obsessed with the word "capo" because of the Sopranos. There were a few years where you couldn't read an article without some random member getting called a "capo." Or my favorite: "war capo."

Yeah, Selwyn Raab used it in Five Families, then Phil Carlo completely abused it.Shellackhead wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 4:02 pm In the Karate Pitera book, that word “War Capo” was thrown around a few times Whatever that means
It goes back to stuff too like "wartime consigliere" in the Godfather.
Re: John Pennisi Sighting / Sit Down News
I always found it weird Penninsi thought these guys had any honor. Wonder how many naive guys thought the mob was like The Godfather and got all disillusioned later. Just to get used by some 70 yr old Italian criminal to do shit he can’t be bothered to do
Maybe Penninsi should’ve seen the sopranos instead of The Godfather lol

Exactly like 98% of these guys think the exact same way. Even guys that cooperated and claimed to regret their time in the life—like Franzese, Fratianno, Leonetti, Caramandi, Gravano, etc—they talked about their respective making ceremonies with great reverence and pride. I think a lot of them believe wiseguys failed the life and not the other way around. And that if people simply followed the rules, it *is* an honorable life.

I couldnt resist.... but this seriously reminded me of the Sopranos where the white guy gets his car stolen by the gangbangers then yells, " WHO ELSE, HUH?"..... And it cuts to Tony....CabriniGreen wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 10:58 pmLol, if you are a Bonnano you might hire em to whack your own Pops.....SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 10:03 pm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF_-AB2-Ux4.

Also, no bloods in Mexico, or Columbia...
And no bloods have paramilitary/ special forces training..... in fact comparing any gang to a cartel is a little silly...
