Just proves LCN is way way down the priority list in fbi offices.....if it is active...which I think it is, Todaro and co will just hit stealth mode big time now.

If memory serves, he's always maintained the Buffalo mob was still operating.thesociety 89 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 4:47 am Didnt Ronald Fino say there wasnt a Buffalo LCN years back.....so it seems he's changed his tune aswell.
Almost completely the same info in smaller previous articles the last few years repackaged as a front page attention grabber.CabriniGreen wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 3:24 amPretty much all the developments NickelCity has been keeping track of......
This fits the description of how federal investigators described things 15 years ago when they said, "While small numbers of loosely associated individuals got together to commit Mafia style crimes, rumors that what was once the Magaddino family still operating there just weren't true."But now, federal prosecutors are looking for organized crime activities in a widespread investigation that includes a former DEA agent accused of taking bribes, two nephews of the man law enforcement has claimed heads the Buffalo Mafia, a high school teacher who sold drugs, a businessman who grew marijuana in an Amherst mansion and the owner of a medical staffing business accused of fraud.
It's essentially taking 1+1+1 and saying it equals 10.
This is key. What is the hierarchy of the Buffalo mob in 2021? If Todaro was anymore than a titular boss at this point, they likely would have indicted by now. Violi, despite his actual links to Buffalo being somewhat tenuous, and being made not long before, was named underboss. That should tell you something. He was neck-deep in drugs but what other Buffalo members were charged along with him? 82 year old Rocco Luppino in Hamilton, who doesn't seem to be doing much of anything, is the only other guy in an administrative position. Technically anyway. After those three, you literally have 9 other made members who range in ages from 74 to 92, none of whom have been involved in any crimes for decades. Some of the individuals who were leaders of the Mafia are still around,” said Adam S. Cohen, then special agent in charge of the Buffalo FBI office in 2017. “But their organized crime activities don’t exist anymore."
From a law enforcement standpoint, they wouldn't be showing due diligence if they didn't investigate the allegations or possible ties. If investigators will bring charges against loosely connected people in Pittsburgh for video poker or in Kansas City for bookmaking, they'll do do the same for people dealing drugs in Western New York. We're seeing the same post-mob patterns in all these areas. But that we still haven't seen anything showing the existence of a formally structured, cohesively running Mafia family makes me think the retired agents who declared the family finished aren't losing sleep over being proven wrong.Funny, they say the FBI has lowkey been asking everyone they pull in for info on the Buffalo mafia. I guess they dont want to reverse themselves until they have something concrete so they dont look bad........
All roads lead to New York.

Of all the mob related accounts I follow on social media, Buffalo is the talk of the town today because of this article.
Glick told author Nicholas Pileggi that he expected to meet a banker-type individual, but instead, he found Alvin Baron to be a gruff, tough-talking cigar-chomping Teamster who greeted him with, “What the fuck do you want?”

Not really seeing any of the traditional lucrative rackets like union or business corruption. Some political corruption, and at the federal level too, with the crooked DEA agent. But mostly just drug trafficking. With all of the activity in Canada as of recent however you have to believe there's something going on in places like Buffalo and Detroit.

Makes sense, both cities are the border crossings into Ontario, with Detroit fairly close to Chicago.Grouchy Sinatra wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 12:39 pm Not really seeing any of the traditional lucrative rackets like union or business corruption. Whether there’s a buffalo mob or not I’m interested on what Todaro’s been doing. I seriously doubt Violi would bring him up for shits and giggles maybe he’s an advisor of some kind no?
Either way those guys are fucked now with all this publicity

Given how close Todaro Jr and Merlino live in South Florida, it wouldn't surprise me if it comes out that they've been in contact. Back in the 1980's Scarfo/Leonetti met Todaro Sr at his hotel.

Wiretaps are enough and we have that. The mafia does things illegally, but maybe we're looking too hard for a criminal operation as opposed to an organization that is open to criminality. The former suggests a Wire/Chris kicking up weekly to Paulie while the latter suggests a group that goes outside the law to protect the economic interests of its members.
