Biggest Busts money wise in 21st Century

Post by Dave65827 »

Wondering what the biggest busts money wise in American LCN have been in the 21st Century considering its far from the mobs golden age

The biggest busts money wise has to be That 2.2 billion Lucchese bust right ? I know the actual profit was around 400 mil but still has to be up there. Second one from my memory was that 900 million telemarketing scam from Martino right ?

Also a little off topic what about Canada LCN busts money wise how do they compare with their compatriots in NY

Investigators calculated that between 2015 and 2016, SKS365 — the company that controlled Planetwin365 — made a profit of about 85 million euros on turnover of almost 2 billion euros. Planetwin365’s four owners were fully aware of their agents’ criminal ties and deliberately partnered with them to maximize profits, according to prosecutors.

Is it about 3-5% of the amount wagered? Or did they pull more vig in Jersey? What percentage would yield 400 million in profit?

The actual profit wasn't $400 million. Not sure where you got that.
My guess is you're confusing the amount of bets alleged in the 2009 Lucchese case ($400 million) as the net profit in the 2007 Lucchese case. Two different cases, both referring to total handle of wagers. Not profit.

If I remember correctly, the total possible amount of money estimated in the Locascio/Martino case was upwards of $750 million.
All roads lead to New York.

Sorry about the confusion I accidentally conflated the 2007 operation heat with the amount of money from a separate 2009 bust

I’m not sure about the actual profit from the 2.2 billion wagers

This has been broken down before but, ballpark, you're looking at maybe 5% profit.

As messed up as this sounds, I thought this was hilarious. Him and the lawyer justifying it because the winners won so big lol. Could you imagine hitting the mega and getting a lawyer to manage everything the right way and you inadvertently end up funding a Genovese solider's penchant for jet skis

A few years ago what was dubbed "Ontario's Largest Mafia Bust" they seized over 30 million in assets. They estimated the group they arrested "made up to 70 million over the last few years".

Thinking off hand I can't think of any majorly giant busts involving the Rizzutos in Quebec.

Vito Rizzuto was convicted in absentia, of being part of a plan to build a bridge from Palermo to Messina, in Reggio. I think the deal was 500 Billion Lire, don’t know what that converts in USD.
