I'm not sure there's even a crew. And that's assuming Gatto was ever a captain over his own crew, as there was some discrepancy on that.

Anyway, I've wondered if there is only the Coppola/DePiro crew and the DeVita crew left for the Genovese in the state.

There seems to be allot of leaderless crews in NJ for the Westside. Ninny's crew , Gatto Crew, Old Digilio crew that worked the Bayonne waterfront. Guys in these crews...especially big gambling crews like the Gatto and Ninnys crew...they have to be with someone now. The westside is not gonna walk away from the Gambling Rackets. I cant see them all reporting to the guy DePiro etc. They don't even know him probably.

I think either the current captains haven't been publicly identified yet or the crews have been merged with other crews. The more time goes by, the more I'm inclined to think the latter.

Capeci had Ninny Bruschi as an acting captain.

Like Gatto, Bruschi's exact status has been a little confusing. In his 2003 bust, or or two articles listed him as a captain. So did the 2004 NJ report, which did have errors. But then in 2005, when he was indicted with Dentico, it was Dentico who was listed as a captain. This is what it said about Bruschi...

Defendant LUDWIG BRUSCHI, also known as “NINNY,” was associated with the Genovese Crime Family and was involved in the operation of the illegal numbers operation.

If Bruschi was an acting captain, that would help narrow things down a bit.

Well, like Gatto and Bruschi, Borelli is also dead of course. According to the 2004 report, Borelli was helping run part of the crew at the time. And that was before DePiro even really popped up on the scene. DePiro is still technically a soldier, unless I'm mistaken.

The Westside seem to opt to merge, split crews instead of keep a straightforward lineage.

The Colombos and Bonannos do that a lot.

The Lucchese seems to do it the least. Followed by the Genovese and Gambinos. The Colombos and Bonannos do it s lot.

Not sure who was boss when this happened, either Colombo or Persico, but also maybe when Gioeli was street boss but I believed it was done to keep things relatively equal. They tried to spread out as evenly as they could to 6 made guys to a crew. Think the reasoning was that there was a lot of jealousy within the family and as a way to keep things as even as possible. Seems like socialism had crept into the Colombo family
