Re: Montreal Mafia status - Post Rizzuto Era
Gagliano may have been a made member of the Bonannos but I doubt he was involved in any criminal activity for them. He saved that for the much more powerful crime family that he belonged to: the Libranos, the ultra-courrupt Liberal party of Canada. He was the point man in the Sponsorship Scandal of the late 90s early 2000s. Over 100 million in public funds paid out to connected advertising agencies for no actual work done, a classic mob style scam. I think dozens of Liberal criminals should have done time for that but only a couple did and Gagliano wasn't one of them unfortunately. Fuckin sleazy sack of shit.

His funeral-home visitation this Thursday will not be at the Loreto, which is owned by the Rizzuto-Renda family, but at the Magnus Poirier location in Montréal-Nord.PogueMahone wrote:Alfonso Gagliano has died.
Gagliano, a former politician, has been accused of being a Montreal-based made man in the Bonannos.

In 2018, Gagliano did attend the funeral of Libertina Manno, wife of Nick Rizzuto Sr. Gagliano was photographed — see toward the end of the article to which I’ve linked below.

Re: Montreal Mafia status - Post Rizzuto Era
Could anyone share/explain the Gambino's involvement in Canada with the Siderno Group and or the Rizzutos, Bonannos, Buffalo and share any links to article you have about it. I saw a post about Frank Cali meeting someone (I cant remember who) and when I asked about it I never got an answer and for the life of me I cant find anything about it. So any help would be appreciated.

This came out of the Italian side of the Operation Old Bridge investigation:
Subsequent investigative activities carried out in Palermo...also highlight the continuing contacts in 2004 between Giovanni Inzerillo and Canadian mafia exponents.
In this regard, reference is made to the telephone and personal contacts registered in Palermo in the summer of 2004, with subjects from Canada, such as Iulian Rondini and Julian Mordacca, indicated as close to the mafia family of the Commissos, and orbiting in the Canadian criminal association headed by Peter Scarcella of Toronto, the latter linked to the criminal organization operating in Montreal, headed by Vito Rizzuto.
Inzerillo and Filippo Casamento's visit to Toronto is well-known where they met with Michele Modica and Michele Marrese, but Inzerillo was also placing calls from Palermo to Ontario and contacting Commisso / Scarcella associates. I've never heard of Rondini or Mordacca.

The Italian authorities suspected it involved drug trafficking. Mafia leaders in Porto Empedocle were recorded around the same time discussing how the return of the Inzerillos meant they would be able to deal much larger quantities of drugs through the Inzerillos' ties. The Old Bridge document mentions these Porto Empedocle mafia conversations in context with Inzerillo's Canadian contacts.
The Porto Empedocle connection stands out, as Gambino member Paul Semplice's family is from Porto Empedocle and he has visited there in recent years. He is a member of Lorenzo Mannino's decina, which is also tied closely to the Inzerillos. Semplice was doing business with Ontario-based Bonanno member Vincenzo Morena during Morena's cooperation.
So even though the Old Bridge reference is from 2004, we can see some of the same connections and locations come up in recent years.

I couldn’t find a suitable existing thread in which to post the article to which I’ve linked below. So I thought I’d dump the story here.

MMA is basically the what boxing was for the mob, for bikers. Specifically, in Quebec years ago, it wasn’t uncommon to attend a local fight card and see full patch HAs in the crowd.OcSleeper wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 11:03 pmNot to get too off topic here but that guy is childhood friends with former UFC Champion Georges Saint Pierre. I went to a Freedom Fight in Hull, Quebec. The main event fighter from Quebec lost, at the end of the fight backstage, a little man, full patch regardless, goes back stages and starts screaming at the fighter for losing, making the club look bad, I also think they lost money betting on him.
Examples in Quebec and Ontario
