Maybe Penninsi is Capeci's source who told him that Scoops is the consigliere lol. Thanks for posting, I have to say it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I see these rat scumbags get treated with such kid gloves by the government. Sure they helped your career and got you the headlines you so desperately crave by testifying against LCN figures. But then they broke their agreement with you and continued to commit crimes. Why is some freelance writer (who I have to assume is our very own mafiastudent) going harder on this Rubeo POS than federal prosecutors are?

wow Scoops is consigliere ! He is old as dirt ! Surprised by that. I guess Ligambi really is retired. Unless they have a front for Boss , Underboss and Consig as well ! lol So I have to assume Big Lou is capo of whatever is left of Newark.

Joey gets off his 4 month jail term in latter 2015, free of supervised release for first time since late 90's. He's repeatedly out in the company of George Borgesi, Joe Ligambi and oftentimes Stevie Mazzone (and 30 guys each night hovering around). Philadelphia, Boca, Jersey Shore, it's Joe Ligambi who is with Joey. Joe Scoops is in Newark, supervising Joey Servidio but he's consigliere? I won't believe it unless its somewhere on a tape with some guy whose in the know saying so.
I think in the Persiano indictment it mentioned Servidio moved to South Jersey and was reporting to Grande. That might be a sign that Licata is taking a step back from supervising a crew and joining the admin. Who knows...

So is Borgesi an 'independent contractor' at this point?

Servidio wasn’t with Grande. Grande said to Persiano a few times that Servidio needed to check in with his capo, who wasn’t Grande.

You wanna know who can't eat in my restaurant?" Lutz shouted. "Sammy The Bull can't! No rats and liars can eat in my restaurant. I've thrown a couple of them out. I said you gotta be kidding, you got to leave. You're not welcome here. I know what it is to have somebody sit on the stand and make up stories about you."

I wonder which rats Lutz had to throw out of restaurant?

Capeci replied to my email and this is what he said.
When I saw JL, I assumed it was either ligambi or licata and when I checked was told it was licata.

I don’t have a clue how and why pennisi says the same thing, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out that the feds had the wrong initials and it’s neither licata nor ligambi.

So it is either Licata, Ligambi or neither of them. That clears it up.

Any other known Philly guys with those initials?

Re-reading the column this is what Capeci said.

Sources say that during the ceremony, Mikey Lance introduced Joseph (Scoops) Licata as the crime family's consigliere to the newly inducted wiseguys, who included Salvatore (Sonny) Mazzone, the underboss's younger brother, who was also hit with racketeering charges.

This is new info. The detention memo lays out ML as the Street Boss and JL as the Consigliere but didn't specifically say that either were at the 2015 making ceremony. So I'm assuming Capeci's sources had access to the Persiano tapes of the ceremony where Lancelotti introduced Licata as the Consigliere.

Licata"s presence at the ceremony is also a very strong indication that at least one of the inductees was from the North Jersey Crew.

I didn't "rat" anyone out. If you look at the filing, I asked a question and for a comment regarding gambling based on his 2018 sentencing for a story I was writing. The only person who "ratted" was Rubeo himself.

In addition, I wrote to the judge long before that VOSR was unsealed so I had no idea what he was being questioned or violated on because it was under seal at the time. And again, my question had to do with gambling.
