'Making Jack Falcone' - Robert Vaccaro

Post by AnIrishGuy »

Been re-reading the Jack Falcone / Joaquin Garcia book. It's not terrible, he doesn't sell himself as a hero or legend like a lot of guys writing these books do (mind you as a Fed rather than a crook maybe he doesn't' need to).

Don't know if he or the book has been covered on BHF already elsewhere, but a Gambino soldier called Robert Vaccaro is a prominent part of the book. I can't find much info on him online - any of you learned gentlemen shed a bit of light on his story and / or what he's at these days?

I have no clue about him presently but in the book it does say he was originally a Lucchese soldier who transferred over to the Gambino family.

There is a Robert Vaccaro Jr. I think that's the one your referring too.

I believe he was either mistaken or just loose with his terminology. Vaccaro was made into the Gsmbinos in the late 1990s/early 2000s. So he would have transferred from the Luccheses as an Associate.

I know Robert jr’s son. They live in Bergen county. Big money. Kid has some issues but he’s a good dude. Unfortunately his mother (jr’s wife) took her own life years ago because of all the legal issues and the sons issues. Jr’s father is a long time gambling guy. Think he has his button. I don’t think jr does but that may have changed and the old man may have passed. Also hooks Capra son and rob jrs son grew up together. They’re close since young kids.

Robert Vaccaro Sr., is the former Lucchese associate and now Gambino soldier who was arrested in Falcone case. So is his son, Vaccaro Jr., who was also arrested on that case, made?

quote from Garcia on Vaccaro
Robert Vaccaro was the prime example of a secretive gangster who did not trust anyone. “It took me a long time to develop a relationship with him, but I think eventually I developed a better relationship with Robert than with anyone else. He was originally a Lucchese guy and somehow they switched him over to the Gambinos and they made him. He had some previous experience with the Pizza Connection case. Did some time, I think 20 years in the state penitentiary. He came out. True gangster, very quiet.”

Thank you JohnnyS. So Vaccaro was an associate with the Lucchese's before getting straightened out with the Gambino's. Anybody know why he switched?
