Re: Corsican & French mob
Thank you. Yes and besides, it is interesting to see that he has gone through 3 decades in organized crime without being almost never mentioned except in the Begum jewelry case. It must be said that the case was very publicized at that time. Until an informant spoke a few years later, no one was ever quite sure why he got shot.
It seems that despite his status he was finally quite isolated. The fact of being appointed as a representative of Cosa Nostra in France by someone like Judge Falcone is no small feat. Especially since he was not Italian.
Speaking of Falcone, Pizza Connection and "Operation Phoenix", I never quite understood who the Benevento clan worked for. I know that Rendel was also connected to Antonio Flores a guy from the Porto Rican mob, but I don't know if it was made guys or just guys connected to Cosa Nostra in Sicily. Besides, the chemists in this operation were François Scapula & Charles Altieri, respectively the guy who gave the killers of Judge Michel and the driver of the motorcycle who killed the Judge ...
Anyway in the end of the 1950 Americans authorities knew him very well:

Thanks again. Is that piece from the FBN files?

Yeap, Mondoloni is on page 1083 on my PDF. It begins on page 1079 for the French, and 1070 with the Armenians (there are also French in it), 1094 for Americans & Italians.

But I have the impression it's a little mixed because I just seen that Marius Ansaldi or Jean-Joseph Andréani are classified with the Italo-Americans

Re: Corsican & French mob
To be honest, I'm not sure because the organized crime situation in Corsica is roughly the same as Montreal. Since 2006 and the accidental death of Jean-Jé Colonna (Corse du Sud) it is a bit of disorder with a lot of murder. And since 2008 it is the gang of "La Brise De Mer" (North Corsica) which is torn apart. All these groups had international connections or interests in Italy, South America or Africa or in tax havens and they were big.aleksandrored wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 5:11 pm Thanks man, another great article, are there such interesting guys these days?
Today it is the group of the "Petit Bar" which seems to be quite powerful, I continue to follow the news, but I find it difficult to follow who is who (a bit like Montreal as I said just before)
From my point of view the interesting years are 1935-1985 until the murder of Mondoloni

It is similar to the LCN so, here despite having factions like PCC and Comando Vermelho, it is very disorganized, I believe that organized crime in general seems less interesting nowadays, I think this "declined" started in the early 90s.motorfab wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 9:30 amTo be honest, I'm not sure because the organized crime situation in Corsica is roughly the same as Montreal. Re: Corsican & French mob
I'd be very interested in learning more about Antonio Flores and his connections to either the Sicilian or Corsican mob. All I know is that he was born Antonio Javier Flores Serrano around 1937 in Cagua, PR. In the 70s he was convicted for drug distribution after being extradited from Spain where he had fled.motorfab wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 6:48 amThank you. Re: Corsican & French mob
Thank you for the date and place of birth. For the connections with the Italians I will not be able to help much, on the other hand for the Corsicans no problem.PolackTony wrote: ↑Fri Nov 27, 2020 10:31 pm I'd be very interested in learning more about Antonio Flores and his connections to either the Sicilian or Corsican mob. He was one of the main "client" of Jean-Baptiste Croce-Joseph Marro-Joseph Mari's network which passed through Montreal & NY. They used smugglers in Montreal whose process was quite abject: seducing girls from Montreal, making a trip to Marseille where they filled cars with heroine, then back to Montreal where the drugs were then delivered to NY. In the meantime the poor girl who has absolutely no suspicion of course was dropped by the smugglers.
A French singer (very very cheesy lol, but he was the first to release a rock n roll record in France!), Edmond Taillet, has done this operation several times. Taillet made several trips to NY where he was responsible for recovering between £ 150,000 and £ 200,000 in Flores. Obviously they got caught and Taillet, not being a mobster at all, gave the whole network ...
Another French in Montreal Michel Mastantuono had done the same with a Canadian singer, Danielle Ouimet. A short article to translate if you want: https://www.lemonde.fr/actualite-medias ... _3236.html
Another guy from the Croce network, Edouard "Doudou" Rimbeau, got caught because of the dockers' strike in NY in 1969. They had hidden 160 kilos of heroin in boxes of paëla. The strike gave customs time to search and find the heroin. Raimbaud who was donated by Taillet later also collaborates and gives the last ammunition for the authorities ... Especially that Croce who was supposed to support him financially during his imprisonment seems to have forgotten the poor Doudou. Anyway, this shipment was supposed to be for Flores too
I don't know what sentence he got in the end, that's about all I have on him.
In case you don't know his face:
