Guys doing twenty years for the family. What are they to do, shelve him for getting pinched?
Start shelving made guys for getting pinched and see how long LCN lasts.
I’ve searched and found nothing about him flipping or informing. Quite the opposite:
Upon his 2012 sentencing for 19.5 years:
“ Timothy Watkins, DeLeo's lawyer, said: "Ralph DeLeo stood up to take his punishment in federal court for the things he has done, things he has now put behind him. He did so with much equanimity and grace."”
https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.bostong ... utType=amp
And from the feds own website:
“ Ralph F. Deleo, 69, of Somerville, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Douglas P. Woodlock to 235 months in prison, with credit for 36 months of time served, for a total of 199 months, to be followed by three years of supervised release and a $50,000 fine. In May, Deleo pleaded guilty to a racketeering conspiracy and being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. Judge Woodlock accepted Deleo’s guilty plea today and imposed sentence.”

Re: New Pennisi Article
I think he killed a doctor or someone for a doctor out west in some western state and then rolled on the guy who ordered the hit...but the LCN guys didn't know about it at the time...
Re: New Pennisi Article
And are we not going to mention DeLeo hanging out on the old site trying to learn about the mob?
Re: New Pennisi Article
He might of not ratted on the Colombos. But he definitely testified previously to meeting Alphonse PersicoJohnnyS wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 10:40 amRead gohn's article on him I posted above.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 10:27 amWhere was it said he’s a rat?JohnnyS wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 10:15 amHe was exposed as a rat.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 10:08 amWhy is that? In fact I think him being in the federal system was part of his deal for co-operating, so he didn't have to do his time in state prison. And that's the whole reason he met Persico in the first place. Considering that kidnapping and murdering a guy is usually gonna get you a life sentence at the very least I would say he got a pretty good deal for testifying. Surprised that the Colombos would still recognize him in good standing after that came out though.

Ah, so he rolled on a guy in the 70’s. I doubt the Colombos had any idea, when they made him or when Cambria told Pennisi.

It doesn’t matter who he ratted on or when it happened. A rat is a rat. It’s mind boggling that the Colombo’s elected a rat as acting boss. I get that he was tight with Allie Boy but still, its crazy that he was even made.
Wise men listen and laugh, while fools talk.

And again, he was literally a user on the old site trying to learn about the mob.

That was never confirmed. One of those internet rumors that took on a life of its own.

DeLeo traveled to Columbus, OH., where he allegedly reconnected with former cellmate Dr. Donald Plotnick. Laying low on Plotnick's farm, Ralph was introduced to Dr. David Ucker, a deputy county coroner and medical professional who hired the Boston bank robber for a job. Ralph was tasked with kidnapping Dr. Walter T. Bond, a prominent African-American physician and an organizer of a local abortion clinic in Columbus. In a plot straight out of a hospital soap opera, Ucker had apparently been dating a pharmacist, and Dr. Bond allegedly drugged and raped her.
DeLeo offered to dish out a beating to Dr. Bond, but Ucker demanded the man be castrated. On October 31, 1977, DeLeo - donned in the full sheriff's attire - approached the alleged rapist, Dr. Bond, as he left his office and told him he had a warrant for his arrest. What exactly happened on Bond's doorstep is unclear, but the abortion doctor ended up with two bullets in the head and chest after a deadly, heat-of-the-moment change of plans.
At the same time that he was cooperating with the government concerning the Bond case, Ralph DeLeo was also being questioned about the possible involvement of two friends in a 1976 slaying in Maine. James A. Cassidy, 43, a banker from Brooklin, Mass., disappeared on April 4, 1976, with at least $350,000 in valuable stamps. He lived in Brookline and operated a stamp and coin collection business in the Chestnut Hill section on Newton, Mass. in his free time. Cassidy was also accused of stealing $1,150,000 from the bank he worked at, and after police uncovered his badly-burned body in his torched station wagon, neither the stamps nor the embezzled money was found. Despite DeLeo's cooperation, nobody was ever charged with Cassidy's murder.
On May 17, 1979, Ralph F. DeLeo formally pleaded guilty to being the "trigger man" in the Bond murder and was sentenced to 15-to-life in state prison.

Re: New Pennisi Article
That’s strange how the mob didn’t look into his past before even sponsoring him for a button, can’t be too surprised though because Scarpa was an FBI informant for over 20 years & they didn’t even notice until he came out as is after the 3rd Colombo war. They got these moles around back in the day that told them about who’s the informant, etc but couldn’t do a checkup on a connected guy who most likely wasn’t known by the rest of the neighborhood and isn’t vouched for by someone else or multiple guys from the neighborhood...furiofromnaples wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 3:08 pmhttps://thecolombomafia.com/ralph-deleo
