Vinny Gorgeous (non jail related)
I noticed the other thread was shut down and rightfully so, but I noticed "B." posted this and I would like to see it answered as well if anyone knows.
His post:
Getting back to Vinny Basciano, does anyone know how he first got hooked up with Dominick Trinchera and the Bonannos? He was already a trusted associate by his early 20s. Then what happened to him after Trinchera's death? We know he stayed with the Bronx crew and got made more than a decade later but how did he come back into the fold post-1981 and who was he on record with before he got made
----------------------------
I thought it would be a great discussion and was a good question to ask. I admit I don't know much on him so I'd like to see it and read about it.
If it was answered and I missed it the please delete.

Would be nice to hear EB's view on this, though he hasn't been posting in the last week or so

Yea I've noticed in my catching up he's been missing.
Hope everything is ok with him and his Dad. Seems all of us have been dealing with the gauntlet lately

Re: Vinny Gorgeous (non jail related)
I was going to make a similar thread, but didn't want to fan a debate on religion and politics. Thanks dixiemafia.
Fuck, I've just realised PB hasn't been posting for a while. Hoping things are okay with his old man and himself. He's a top bloke, and an asset to any forum.
It was for the same question B. asked, and Dixie expounded upon. In 1980 we see him at the Bono wedding, a fresh-faced kid standing around the table with all those heavy hitters; next year, the capos are murdered, and a cursory search doesn't see much at all until he's well-known. Thanks for the response JD. But he must have been doing something "right" to already be around guys like Trinchera and company in his early twenties. Interesting to consider the fact that his three sons have been charged with crimes at relatively young ages, although it seems like only one is a made guy. Can anyone remind me which son is made? I think it was Vincent Jr? I haven't read the book, but didn't Thomas Repetto or Anthony DeStefano release one focusing on the Bonannos after Massino was revealed to be a rat, and Basciano in particular?
Just me talking shit, but I've seen the pictures of his kids walking from court. They, er, don't really follow in their fathers footsteps in regards to personal grooming and attire.

Re: Vinny Gorgeous (non jail related)
a little off subject but here is an old article on Charlie from 1989 bust in FL: http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/198 ... th-floridaJD wrote:He and Anthony Donato were both on record with Charles Musillo by the mid-1980s. Musillo wanted to propose Basciano and Donato together but was only allowed one at the time so he went with Basciano. The ceremony took place around February 1991 (maybe a little earlier). Musillo was in jail by then so his acting captain at the time, Patrick DeFilippo, stood in for him at the induction.dixiemafia wrote:I thought it would be a great discussion and was a good question to ask. Donato was proposed after Massino got out of jail but got in trouble and almost chased or worse for supposedly bragging about a hit. He finally got made in early 2002 and was one of the first guys put with Basciano when he was promoted that spring.

Re: Vinny Gorgeous (non jail related)
Great Info regards Musillo Rocco.
Interesting, personally never heard of him before. Capo Bonnano's in the 80's.
It states according to the BOP he was released 01/28/1994 (I assume from the above conviction/indictment).
He lived until 2009 Born NY, obviously did a stint in Florida and his last 13yrs in NJ (Effectively upon his release).
Does anyone have any info concerning him post his release? Was he still active? Still hold his stripes under Massino?
Cheers.

It appears he lost his Capo rank in 1993 when Patrick DeFilippo took over his crew.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Makes sense since 80% of SI eventually winds up in Jersey.SonnyBlackstein wrote:Great Info regards Musillo Rocco.

Re: Vinny Gorgeous (non jail related)
Vinny made his bones when he was busted with DeFillipo and another mob associate in 1987 or 1988 when they shot the guy running a bookie operation storefront on White Plains Road and Gun Hill in the Bx. He beat the attempted murder charge but was convicted of a firearm charge.
Re: Vinny Gorgeous (non jail related)
I remember that! It was a sloppy hit attempt that's why they got busted.NYNighthawk wrote:Vinny made his bones when he was busted with DeFillipo and another mob associate in 1987 or 1988 when they shot the guy running a bookie operation storefront on White Plains Road and Gun Hill in the Bx. They drove into a dead end alleyway near the New England Thruway where the 47th Pct cops trapped them.
