Michael Persico
Reading all this stuff related to his sentencing I found it interesting that teddy persico, a captain, discusses getting approval from michael to hit someone. I thought michael was kept out of the heavy stuff and it seems odd a captain would have to get approval from an associate. Obviously this could be because michael is getting approval from his father for the hit but still seems odd. And if this was the case why is the old man still approving hits from butner? Shouldn't the acting boss take care of that. Anyone got any info on this arrangement?
I agree with phat,I love those old fucks and he's right.we all got some cosa nostra in us.I personnely love the life.I think we on the forum would be the ultimate crew! - camerono
Re: Michael Persico
I would suspect that at the time perhaps the feds and everyone else thought Michael was legit and so messages were safer past thru him to family via Carmine. So more then likely Carmine dragged Michael into LCN by using him as a messenger. Congrats on popping you cherry on your first pinch Michael ! You said nothing and they got nothing.(goodfellas)Pete wrote:Reading all this stuff related to his sentencing I found it interesting that teddy persico, a captain, discusses getting approval from michael to hit someone. I can't remember the exact language used, but Greg Scarpa confirms a couple of times that Michael Persico was made but that it was a unique arrangement and not common knowledge. Everything else has pointed to him being simply an associate, but I think there may be more than meets the eye.

Re: Michael Persico
Such an arrangement has existed in Sicily for years. They are called "in reserve" and very few people know who they are because they don't get introduced to except to a few.
Re: Michael Persico
See this makes more sense to me that he is infact made. Wonder if the old man wants to put michael in the chair someday since Allie is done forB. wrote:I can't remember the exact language used, but Greg Scarpa confirms a couple of times that Michael Persico was made but that it was a unique arrangement and not common knowledge. Your and toto's responses make a lot of sense. Also, I remember reading something where Sonny mentioned something about Michael and his involvement being more than meets the eye...fwiw.

I couldn't remember who said it but I thought there was something like that.Doobeez wrote:B. wrote:I can't remember the exact language used, but Greg Scarpa confirms a couple of times that Michael Persico was made but that it was a unique arrangement and not common knowledge. The assumption I guess is that Michael Persico is a member who they wanted to use as the legit face of the Persico family. Didn't exactly work out.

Re: Michael Persico
I thought I read something, somewhere that these types were known as "Sleepers" that very few people knew they were made and that they were used for something specific or for special purposes. Like maybe a doctor, politician or some businessman that not a whole lot of people know of their made status.toto wrote:Such an arrangement has existed in Sicily for years. I thought there was a topic about these types? Maybe on RD?
Re: Michael Persico
I have always heard sleeper used to refer to people who fly under the radar but there is more to them than meets the eye. Not something that is formally set up, just the way it works out.
If Michael Persico is made like Scarpa said, it seems more like relatives purposely kept his role in the family murky. Seems like Michael Persico is sort of a Michael Corleone.
