Well it certainly wasn’t out of the goodness in his heart. Bascaino is a real gangster and to have him in the ground would have greatly benefitted the Genovese in the Bronx and made the whole Bonanno family look weak at the same time. Not to mention Massino would have owed Bellomo a favor, three birds with one stone. What a tragedy it would have been if the name stuck. Massino had a good business sense and had the pedigree, people were pretty shocked at his flipping. And the gov't let him keep his money and assets. Crazy
If nobody sees it, it didn't happen.
