I know it definately pales in comparison to the 73 days I just served out in County..
Basciano was a stone cold fucking gangster... on the santoro hit I’m pretty sure basciano had the shotgun and Cicale had like a revolver and I’m pretty sure Cicale like fired shots but don’t think he hit his target at all. If I remember correctly. Probably scared and missed on purpose.. but basciano blasted the fuck out of him with the shotgun... all fornthe guy threatening his sons. You gotta wonder how many other random hits basciano did that weren’t sanctioned that had to do with the dope game in the south Bronx. I heard he would literally walk into neighborhoods that no white person would dare, and all the blacks and Dominicans were scared shitless of him..

I get what ur saying about him being a tough guy but I dont believe he was able to push his weight around in south bronx.

Not saying by any means ur wrong, I'm just saying ONE guy is not enough to scare these Bronx crews.

In the Bronx it's a straight organization that runs the dope game.

I mentioned in another thread recently, and don't know if it's true or not, but Basciano was reported to have a hit on Francis Lewis Blvd in Queens. It was reported in the Basciano book. Apparently it was at a social club. Unconfirmed to this day. And perhaps it never happened, because Massino would have had to bring it up at trial.

I think also it was pizzaboy who mentioned that Basciano could walk into Puerto Rican neighborhoods and set up shop where others feared to go. It's likely he meant the Blue Thunder case, which was the Lower East Side.

Yeah I feel you i didn’t elaborate enough it’s not like he came down and took control but I heard regarding to the people he was dealing with loke if he fronted them dope or whatever that he had no qualms about strolling into the hood to get his money and shit.. just heard he had enormous balls and would go into hoods where no white peiple would dare and do business..
who’s house did he send 2 associates with machine guns to? I remember it from his book but can’t recall a name. Guys nuts though..him and indelicato are a pretty ruthless duo that I for sure wouldn’t want any problems with.

For real. 100 percent and I’ve never heard anyone ever say different... usually there’s always someone who has a grudge or doesn’t like a guy for whatever reason and will claim the guys never busted a grape... but I’ve never heard rumors of anyone ever claiming Vinny wasn’t a stone cold killer... when you think about it he’s like an ideal mobster... guy was a great earner, will traditional street rackets and also a bunch of legitimate companies and income also... not afraid to do work, from assaults to shooting... and can keep his mouth shut and do time in Supermax with a fucking smile..... that pic of him at adx is insane... place is literally like an under grown dungeon and he looks like he’s got a fresh tan, looks in great physical shape.... and is smiling like doing life in the worst prison in the United States is a joke and he can do the time standing on his head.. there is no denying any of that..

Massino said some interesting things about Indelicato:

- Massino was recorded telling Basciano that he (Massino) "loves" Bruno Indelicato. When asked in court, Massino confirmed he was very fond of Indelicato even though Indelicato had been a murder target in 1981.

- Massino said one of the members who was complaining about Basciano's conduct as acting boss was Bruno Indelicato, who is referenced alongside Joe Cammarano Sr. as a "captain" (maybe mistaken wording?). Massino also addressed a rumor that Basciano was planning to promote Indelicato to acting underboss, which Basciano denied.

- Massino testified that Bruno Indelicato had been addicted to cocaine "at one time." As we know, this is a "water is wet" piece of info. He said Indelicato's friend Frank Lino also had a drug problem at this time.

- In a discussion with Basciano about proposed member Joey Gambina participating in a hit, Massino said he didn't want any known drug users to participate in murders. Massino said Bruno Indelicato was an exception and implied Indelicato had already proven himself while his father was alive.

- At one point Patty DeFilippo wanted to kill both Basciano and Bruno Indelicato but Massino stopped it.

- There was an issue because Basciano claimed he sent Allie DiPilato's name to Massino via lawyer Tommy Lee for induction approval, but Massino said he never got it. Massino wanted to have a talk with Bruno Indelicato when he was off parole about inducting DiPilato. It's not clear if there was an issue with DiPilato or if Massino just wanted more info direct from Indelicato.

Via Lou Tartaglione:

- Massino initially assigned Lou Tartaglione and Anthony Rabito to track down and murder Bruno Indelicato in Florida after the three captains hit. However, Massino took them off the contract ten minutes after assigning it. Not sure how this matches up with Pistone's claim that he was assigned the Indelicato murder, but it at least confirms the Bonannos intended to kill Indelicato who was in Florida.

Other info:

- A source reported that Indelicato was planning to kill a DEA agent circa 1973 and was stockpiling guns. He was arrested with the guns but not sure if anything came of the murder rumor or what the circumstances were.

- When Bruno and his uncle JB were brought back into the organization following the three captains murder, they were given the option of which crew to report to. They chose Joe Massino's decina.

Yeah, after the murder of Sonny Red Indelicato, though there is more history to it. Our impression of these relationships has been distorted because the well-known sources are Donnie Brasco and later CWs. Sonny Red Indelicato was one of Phil Rastelli's top associates for many years before he was made, like Sonny Black Napolitano and later Massino. Giaccone was also under Rastelli when Rastelli was a captain, which is probably why Massino was assigned to Giaccone's crew.

We don't typically hear it put this way in the books, but the 1981 conflict was largely between Rastelli loyalists, with the Giaccone-Indelicato faction splitting off from Massino-Napolitano and trying to take over. And sure enough, after Giaccone and Indelicato were killed, it was Massino and Napolitano who came into conflict, with Napolitano trying to take over.

Does this mean that Giaccone was made before Rastelli was boss? Or do you mean as an associate?

Yeah, a source ID'd him as a soldier in Rastelli's decina in the mid-late 1960s. I don't think anything has come out that conflicts with it either.
