Another thing which is unique about the DeCavs is a significant number of them actually work legit jobs mostly construction or restaurants. These guys don’t sit around in Social Clubs all day wearing 35k Rolex watches with their 100k car parked in front outside. That’s not their style.
Two examples off the top of my head are, Sal Timpani was a barber and laborer for 394 in Toms River and Jimmy Gumps Palermo had Rockafellas by the Sea Restaurant in Ortley Beach (my good childhood friend growing up worked there as a bus boy when we were like 15 years old growing up, man did he have some wild stories this was back in like 1999-2000). That joke about not being able to have a sit down with a member of the DeCavs until the whistle at job sites blew isnt too far fetched.

Not sure where you got that idea. Italians were the dominant heroin traffickers in the U.S. from the late 1930s to the early 1970s. There wasn't a single large-scale heroin operation in NYC independent of the LCN in 1965. Despite major black and Hispanic wholesalers by late 1960s, the Corsican-Sicilian-LCN (French Connection) continued to dominate heroin importation. It wasn't until the mid-1970s that things really changed. Even then, the Italians still moved a lot of weight up through the Pizza Connection bust in the mid-1980s. Obviously they have been marginalized for decades now.outfit guy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 7:29 am And how many of the Buffalo members reside in the U.S. Frankly, what do most of the crime families have going on? Got a few non Stango crew players that have Instagram and Facebook, Rosario Pali has one posting nonsense, apparently in the Stango indictment Oliveri's crew was bothering Stango through Facebook or some crap this is just information I picked up, but those are just associates, when Stango(beeps) gets out of jail will he have his capo position waiting for him you think?NJShore4Life wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 6:27 pm They’re still around and active, trust me. Yes they got absolutely murdered by indictments in the late 1990s and early 2000s but they’re still around kicking. Like I have said before , They are extremely old school and more like a Sicilian clan, you’re not going to see them posting pics on Instagram. The majority of the old heads in the family were actually born in Sicily or their parents were and speak fluent Italian. They are actually probably the most Italian and not Italian-American out of all the families still around. That Stango Crew in Toms River bust in 2015 were brokesters who were outliers in the family and not your typical DeCavs. They’re still around Construction.

Well, Frank Lucas had his own importation. The Mexicans have always had some of the most pure Heroin and the reason many Corsicans resided there. Don't conflate the Corsicans and Italians and Marseille. The Sicilians did not dare try and take over overall distribution to the U.S. Corsicans are vicious and the Sicilians waited till they were dead in the water. Herbie Sperling was an importer and distributer and would never take orders from Harlem.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 8:29 pmNot sure where you got that idea. the corsicans smuggled heroin in the united states thanks to sicilian mafia and american lcn links anyway, cosa nostra was the biggest priority for both fbi and dea in the 1960soutfit guy wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 8:01 amWell, Frank Lucas had his own importation. Re: Bust Today with DeCavalcante Tie
What about the Joe Bonnano meeting in Sicily in 1957 I think it was. Was that a heroin pipeline being established in conjunction with the French Connection, or was that primarily a Sicilian/LCN operation? If so, did that not cause friction?

Lucas was one of the few exceptions to the rule. While definitely present on the retail end, and wholesale to much a lesser extent, major black importers have been very rare.outfit guy wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 8:01 amWell, Frank Lucas had his own importation. For decades the Mexicans only had the black tar and brown powder heroin. It wasn't until the late 1990s/early 2000s that they (like the Colombians) started refining their own high grade heroin.
The Corsicans, Sicilians, and Italian-Americans worked hand-in-glove together. The Corsicans were mainly on the supply end. It was the American LCN that had the distribution channels in the U.S.. In New York City above all, which was far and away the biggest heroin market.
All roads lead to New York.

According to the feds, by the late 1960s there were allegedly 23 major smuggling rings which operated on the Arizona/Mexico border and only five of those were wholly or partially controlled by Cosa Nostra crime families from New York City, such as the Gambinos and Bonannos, and also Tampa, Detroit and Chicago.

in the united states as a whole lcn was the dominant force in drug trafficking at that time, although obviously there were other groups involvedVillain wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 2:04 amAccording to the feds, by the late 1960s there were allegedly 23 major smuggling rings which operated on the Arizona/Mexico border and only five of those were wholly or partially controlled by Cosa Nostra crime families from New York City, such as the Gambinos and Bonannos, and also Tampa, Detroit and Chicago.

I agree but those days (late 60s, early 70s) also marked the rise of new ethnic groups and some were already schooled by the US CN.scagghiuni wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 3:04 amin the united states as a whole lcn was the dominant force in drug trafficking at that time, although obviously there were other groups involvedVillain wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 2:04 amAccording to the feds, by the late 1960s there were allegedly 23 major smuggling rings which operated on the Arizona/Mexico border and only five of those were wholly or partially controlled by Cosa Nostra crime families from New York City, such as the Gambinos and Bonannos, and also Tampa, Detroit and Chicago.
Heres some details on the previous info....
According to the feds, the main New York guys who frequented the 360- mile Arizona-Mexico border and were suspected of being involved in the dope business were Antonio Gambino, younger brother of Mafia boss Carlo Gambino, Joe Bonanno, former crime boss who was later exiled by his own organization to the Arizona area, along with an “army” of other exiled members and old associates such as Peter Notaro and Peter Maggadino.
For example, Antonio Gambino was known for constantly frequenting the Arizona-Mexico border along with a suitcase, which almost never contained less then $50,000. Gambino usually used one of the hundreds of flying pilots in Arizona, who made their living by transporting drugs across the border, and as a precaution, Gambino always identified himself as “Pete Patterson”. In addition, Gambino was allegedly connected in that same business to one Chicago mobster known as Lou Rosanova.
The Detroit faction was “represented” by another old time crime boss known as Pete Licavoli Sr., who by now resided in Tucson, Arizona, and was closely affiliated with the Outfit. Sources say that Licavoli was behind the movement of large quantities of cocaine and heroin to Anchorage, Alaska, and other parts of the country.
And as for the Chicago boys, their “overseer” of the dope shipment in the same area was Tony “The Ant” Spilotro, followed by his long time associate Paul Schiro. Before becoming the Outfit’s main enforcer in Las Vegas, and since Chicago became “too hot” for him, Spilotro’s first job as national mobster was being one of the main overseers of the narcotics shipment which went through the Arizona area and then straight to Chicago. According to the FBI, the full extent of the operation was not known, but some government investigators had documents that the gang supplied a major portion of hard drugs for the Chicago market and possibly for some of the smaller Midwest cities.
Some reports say that the ring was responsible for bringing in $8 million worth of Mexican brown heroin into the United States each year.

Also dont forget that during the late 30s and 1940s more than few Mob-connected Jewish gangsters financed many poppy fields around Mexico.
