(CNN)Police in Italy have confiscated a huge shipment of 14 metric tonnes (15.4 US tons) of amphetamines which they say was produced by ISIS in Syria.
Officers tracked three suspect containers to the port of Salerno in southwest Italy and found 84 million pills with a market value of €1 billion ($1.12 billion) inside paper cylinders for industrial use, the Guardia di Finanza financial police said in a statement Wednesday.
Investigators said the bust is the largest drug haul in the world. The pills carried the "Captagon" logo, which "distinguishes the 'drug of Jihad,'" according to the statement.
"It is known that ISIS/Daesh finances its terrorist activities in large part with the trafficking of synthetic drugs produced largely in Syria, which has become the leading world producer of amphetamines in recent years," police said.
"According to the DEA (US Drug Enforcement Administration), ISIS makes wide use of these drugs in all the territories over which it exerts influence and controls its sale."
The group is also able to easily produce large quantities of synthetic drugs to sell on global markets, raising huge amounts of money, added police.
The investigation and bust were carried out on a decree from the Naples public prosecutor, the statement added. Police believe the drugs were intended for distribution in Europe by various organized crime groups.

Terrorism and Organized Crime has always gone hand in hand, beyond ISIS probably working with terrorist groups we never even heard of too.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 9:38 am Fuckin sickening that the Italian mafia would do business with ISIS.

Here is a great pdf that explains the cycling connection:

What’s really sickening, is that Toyota which isn’t a criminal organization (but might as well be) provides ISIS and other Islamic terror groups with brand new full package Toyota 4x4’s. Of course they’re purchased by a third party, probably some Shiek in Saudi Arabia and then transfers them to groups like ISIS. But Toyota obviously knows this happens, but still allows sales of their vehicles to this region of the world regardless.
Ain’t no money, like blood money I guess
It’s Blood alone, that moves the wheels of history

Could be the Camorra but I’m guessing Ndrangheta. They provided weapons to multiple sides fighting in the Syrian Civil War. They’ve sold weapons to other terrorist groups and “enemies of the state” before. They’ve laundered money for some of the biggest international criminal organizations. They no doubt have the established connections.

maybe both, they may have banded together to buy the huge shipment, no single group could deal with so much quantity at onceAmershire_Ed wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 12:52 pm Could be the Camorra but I’m guessing Ndrangheta. There are 84 milions pills maybe the Siderno group asked the camorra to use the salerno port and anyway the ndrangheta is global and milions of captagon pills arent like coke so I you want to made money you must have a global distribution routes.scagghiuni wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 1:09 pmmaybe both, they may have banded together to buy the huge shipment, no single group could deal with so much quantity at onceAmershire_Ed wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 12:52 pm Could be the Camorra but I’m guessing Ndrangheta. Yeah I’m not saying the American Cosa Nostra are angels. They have their own fair share of sick motherfuckers. But the clans in Italy and Sicily are just on another level. I couldn’t see any American family doing arms deals with terrorist groups. Cartels? Yeah I could see the Americans getting involved if the situation was right. But Syrian terrorist organizations? ISIS? Maybe I’m naive but I just don’t see it. Well the Ndrangheta have worked with both. It’s also not uncommon for Ndrangheta members to arrange marriages for their daughters when they are young teens. They have no problem killing women or children. They will wipe anyone out. They more closely resemble a terrorist cell than an American organized crime syndicate.stubbs wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 8:09 pmSame assholes who illegal dump toxic waste which poisons their own town’s water. I also think that’s why there’s not the anywhere near the level of romanticizing of the mafia in Italy as there is in the US amongst the law abiding public. They feel the same way about the Ndrangheta and Camorra and Cosa Nostra that most Americans feel about the Central and South American cartels—which is to say they despise them.
