Reputed mobster Nicodemo "Little Nicky" Scarfo Jr. - son of Philadelphia's former mob boss - is heading back to prison, this time for 30 years, following in his father's footsteps.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Robert Kugler noted that Scarfo's conviction, for fraud, was Scarfo's fifth, and the second in the federal system, which warranted a lengthy term.

Besides having to spend three decades behind bars, Scarfo was ordered to pay at least $12 million in restitution for money that Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven D'Aguanno said was stolen from the Texas-based First Plus financial.

Scarfo, 50, of Ventnor and three others were convicted of racketeering, conspiracy, and related offenses for a fraud authorities said they operated in South Jersey. Scarfo was the first to be sentenced. The other three are scheduled for later this week.

Scarfo, and his attorney, Mike Riley, declined to speak before sentencing, choosing instead to rely on a written brief submitted to the court.

Authorities allege Scarfo was trained as a mob man by his father who is serving a 55-year sentence on similar charges.

In a battle to control the Philadelphia mob after Scarfo Sr. was sent to prison, his son was shot. Joey Merlino took control, and Scarfo later started working with the Lucchese crime family in South Jersey, D'Aguanno said.

Unless he has poor health he wont die in prison. The joke the justice system is,i would bet he will be out in 10 years or less. Kind of a joke to me that he got 30 years anyway since alot of guys get less than that with a murder involved. This just goes to show you that money is more valuable than life is,at least to rich people.

There is no parole in the federal system. He will spend pretty close to 30yrs in prison if he lives that long. And this is financial fraud. Ordinary guys get 20plus yrs for this now. Feds don't fuck around with financial fraud anymore. Bernie Ebers got 80yrs for the WorldCom scam. And that was over ten years ago.

Just looked it up and its 85% of your sentence. That means Nicky has to serve 25 and a half years minimum.......Soliai

There is no parole from the federal prison system, I might be off by a couple of days but a prisoner can get up to 54 days off per year served for proving that they're bettering themselves, staying out of trouble, taking courses, working ect ect ect. So, if I'm right, he could get 1620 days off his 30 year sentence. It might be 56 days off per year? Then it's 1680 days off sentence--so that's up to about 4 1/2 years off sentence, a little more but not much. Oh then, they'll probably credit him time served for all the time he spent in prison until he was found guilty.

How long was he in prison? Add that to his possible 4 1/2 years. So what? Jr. is still doing 20 plus years.

He will get out in his early 70's based on his fathers health and other members of his family that have lived well into their 80's I would say it's more probable he gets out someday it will just be someday far from now. I think anytime someone gets a stiff sentence people say they will die in prison but there's been numerous guys who do 20-30 years get out in their 70's and live much longer.

What Tore and Martino did wasn't financial fraud. They didn't loot a publically traded company. They simply scammed online consumers..martino started out "cramming" consumers with 900 #s...then simply moved that technique to the internet. Cramming has been around for 40yrs.. Also it was Before the meltdown of the markets. Everyone gets hammered now for financial fraud or publically traded companies and or Ponzi's...mobster or not...Scarfo should have known that he would be looking at a min of 20yrs. He is not a scary guy by any means did he think legit guys weren't going to cooperate ? The 2 brothers that were convicted with him were probably turned away by the feds because they didn't need their cooperation when so many others cooperated already. They all get fucked at sentencing now. The Jig is up. I just don't understand Scarfo Jr. By reading the indictment the scam only lasted 11-12 months before the feds shut it down.? How could that be worth 20 plus yrs in jail. Its not like they were able to live the high life for a decade. Its was very short lived. Just fuckin stupid.
