Ed....
Do you happen to have the FBI file on Pranno by chance?

Re: Two new Chicago Outfit informants
No. I only used FBI files available on MF. It would be nice to dig into it.
Re: Two new Chicago Outfit informants
Btw Ed, some say that Giancana also gave some info...do you anything about that?

Re: Two new Chicago Outfit informants
I have looked into Pranno's involvement with the double murder of Octavio Martinez and Ann Bergman in Rockford and I've come to the conclusion that it was requested by Pranno but carried out by the Rockford guys. After their murder, police developed a sketch of a man seen arguing with Martinez in the tavern and outside shortly before the murder. I believe the sketch is a dead ringer for Rockford LCN soldier Phil Priola as I've attached, and an FBI file states that a Rockford Police Detective believed that Priola was responsible. I'm curious if Pranno's file mentions anything about this.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: Two new Chicago Outfit informants
Both Pranno and his close associate Tony Perotti from the Daddono crew had connections in Rockford so I personally believe in the story. But as you said it would be nice to see if theres something about it in Prannos filescavita wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 8:53 amI have looked into Pranno's involvement with the double murder of Octavio Martinez and Ann Bergman in Rockford and I've come to the conclusion that it was requested by Pranno but carried out by the Rockford guys. Re: Two new Chicago Outfit informants
No, I never come across anything suggesting he did. But it's the old story, why wouldn't he give up a little bit of Intel if it got the FBI off his back or kept him out of jail?
If Giancana cooperated later in life (I can't see him talking before 1966), it wasn't ongoing or regular because the wording of FBI reports in the 1970s shows that the bureau was getting basic Intel about him-travel plans, health, business associates, state of mind, etc, from other sources. Again, just my interpretation.
If you had a gun to my head and I had to guess about other Outfit CI's...I'd say someone like Don Angelini or Dom Cortina, and a hitter like Joe Lombardo...don't ask me for any proof or anything concrete because I don't have it. Just a feeling after reading MF reports and Roemer.

I researched the Martinez murder on newspapers.com and I got the feeling police were looking at other suspects as the actual triggermen. Pranno wasn't really familiar with the Rockford-area apparently, etc.
Re: Two new Chicago Outfit informants
Thanks and i agree. Even though i dont have any proof, but if Giancana ever gave some info, i personally believe that it was about the CIA connections during the Cuban crisis since every top goverment investigator at the time had a hard on about the situation...but i could be wrong again lolEd wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 9:06 amNo, I never come across anything suggesting he did. Interesting you mentioned Lombardo...

Seriously doubt Lombardo. They treated him like shit till the end. lolEd wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 9:06 amNo, I never come across anything suggesting he did. But it's the old story, why wouldn't he give up a little bit of Intel if it got the FBI off his back or kept him out of jail?

Re: Two new Chicago Outfit informants
Also, another obvious difference between New York & Chicago that has been already pointed out numerous times is that the Bonnano's being "loose" with some of their "initiation Ceremonies" in the past, is clearly not the same as Chicago were there were "no formal initiation Ceremonies" in the past.Confederate wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 2:32 pmGreat Article Ed! I like the informant describing how someone gets "made" into the Outfit with "no formal initiation ceremony".Ed wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 10:35 am hey guys,
I have a new article about two Chicago Outfit member-informants. I identified one of these guys about ten years ago in an Informer magazine article but now that informant symbol codes are unredacted, I have a more to add.
What’s interesting is one of the informants, besides allegedly being an Outfit member, was a law enforcement officer. Is it possible to be an inducted LCN member and a cop at the same time? The FBI said yes. And no, I’m not talking about Richard Cain.
(As an aside, I'm sceptical Cain was ever an inducted LCN member, despite what Roemer claimed. Informants like Fratto and Maniaci never identified him as a member (in the available FBI files). But who knows.
Thanks to the researchers on this forum for their help. In my own mind, I bounced some of the information in my article off your research. I won’t name the Chicago experts, but you know who you are.

Related to Ed unmasking CI's, this affidavit about John Matassa has several who are interesting.

The description of those ci's is pretty specific. With a bit of luck, I think a keen observer might be able to put the clues together in one or two cases.Antiliar wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 1:53 am Related to Ed unmasking CI's, this affidavit about John Matassa has several who are interesting.

Although the timeline doesn't fit, the description of number 12 resembles Nick Calabrese.Ed wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 1:59 pmThe description of those ci's is pretty specific.
