All that money time and manpower. For 10 bookies.

Amazing.
And they seize a million in cash !

Artie Greco was The Godfather of Delgiudice. Greco died about 10 years ago. Had a big sports book. His family still own Greco’s restaurant in Willow Springs.

I wonder if he was related to old time Outfit guy Mike Greco

In the latest gangsterreport article on this subject, Scott says they were kicking up to the mob.

Scottychicago wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2020 1:57 pm Uncle Mick is definitely connected through the Outfit. He was very close with Artie Greco. Casey Urlacher is very close with Perry Mandera, former owner of crazy horse and VIPs, which were basically an employment center for Outfit guys. How much these guys were kicking up, I have no idea but I guarantee they were kicking up something.
It’s not like the old days. I know many bookmakers in the Chicago area and all of them told me they were never even approached to be shaken down. But I might be in the minority I think most of the stuff that has come out about the outfit is bullshit. There is no consigliere since that position never existed and I doubt solly d is the boss. Solly is a an old guy who runs a legit business and is spending his last years with his kids and grandkids. Anyone who wants to believe this nonsense people post be my guess but I don’t see it

No offense to anyone but that is more of a gossip column. You can read those articles and fine numerous things not true. But as I’ve said everyone is free to believe what they want.

Confirmation that Chicago was still getting their envelope on a rather large gambling operation would be a major piece of news IMO and would show they have clout and are active but maybe a different model than NY where the mob itself is the bank and handles gambling ops directly like a subsidiary. My speculation ( just a total guess ) was they might simply be taxing these networks as a way to reduce their legal risk.

Right now all we can do is wait and watch on how the case goes down...maybe someone will say something...maybe not...

Agree on Solly D. Hes not boss and He’s mostly retired. Is he an advisor? More than likely. He was mentioned in the Paul C wiretaps a couple years ago. The Outfit has always had a senior advisor role and I believe DiFronzo had it until he started showing signs of dementia which happened a couple years before he died. As for bookmaking, I think it depends. A friend of mine got squeezed by some guys from Stone Park and he told them he was going to the FBI if they didn’t leave him alone and he never heard from them again. This is in the last 5 years. This recent bust had guys with Outfit connections but I’m not sure how much they were kicking up. Huge operation. Made a lot of money. Feds want 8 million from them.

I agree solly still meets with people and probably would offer advice but that’s it. As he said the feds still follow him all the time at his age he doesn’t wanna get popped. His carpet cleaning business is actually reasonably successful. He was always an entrepreneur he had a bowling alley pizza place etc. I lived in elm wood park for many years but now take up residence in lake county. He’s not hard to find you’ll see him around and he is always with family.

They had advisors but I never believed it was as an actual position. I thought it was more just old timers offering advice. Not this guy is gonna be put in the role of advisor. And difronzo did not do anything criminal for many years that’s why he deactivated elm wood park and tried to set people up in legit business. He lived so low key and his grandson inherited all his money. John difronzo 3 is a major baller but completely legit. Besides the fact he works for his uncle Pete who gets business based on his reputation but that’s another subject

I remember reading one MF file which stated that there was one high position, reserved only for top members who became semi-retired or just came out of jail, or had to take a step back, and i also think the informant gave Rocky Fish as an example or something like that...ill try to find it

Warning highly speculative:

I wonder if Carmen Bastone's kids are involved in setting up the Costa Rica based sports book along with Mike Posner, as they were known to be involved in international gambling rackets for years, due the connections they made through the late Hy Larner.
