Help with 1963 Chicago chart

Just a couple of thoughts:

I've been going through tons FBI memorandums about Gus Alex. It seems like based on those memorandums, his stature is somewhat under estimated.

Again, all this stuff was observation of various agents, whom we know didn't always get it right however they all seem consistent in the opinion that Gus Alex was a the top guy in the Loop and Near South Side. He was also in charge of the South Side Policy racket, so probably would have ultimately directed the Mannos Bros. Also, Ralph Pierce, Les Kruse and Louis Briatta (didn't see this name on the list) all reported directly to Alex.

Good point. I hadn't considered the Mannos being under Alex, but you may be correct.

Again Snakes, thanks for the input. I'll make the adjustments, but do you have links to Mary Ferrell where documents show these connections? The Mannos, I think, were under Giancana. I haven't seen them linked to any Chicago Hts people. Same with the Fischettis. They lived in the North Side and Florida, sometimes operated in Cicero (where two crews operated, Aiuppa and Buccieri), but don't see them linked to either Buccieri or Aiuppa. For the Virruso/Virrussos, I know they moved to Florida but had to report or kick up to someone, so had to be under someone, especially before they moved there.

I'd have to dig for them, but give me time (or the weekend). Some of them are from newspaper articles as well. I didn't keep track of my sources when making my chart which was a bad choice in hindsight...

I found a document that says Anthony “Puleo” De Rose was with Daddano. Why do you think he was with Buccieri?

Not sure, just rechecked some notes and I can't see anything about him being under Buccieri so you are probably right.

Santo (Sam) Virruso was a pretty influential guy in Chicago before and after he moved to Florida. He was tried in absentia in Sicily for the murders of three brothers and when it came time to deport him in 1934, U.S. Commissioner Edwin K. Walker ruled there wasn’t sufficient evidence against Virruso so he remained a free man. In 1936, Virruso was the prime suspect in the Chicago murder of State Representative Alfred Prignano but again there wasn’t enough evidence to convict him. Virruso eventually made his way to Florida in the 1960s or so where he enjoyed his income from real estate holdings and died there in 1976 at the age of 82. I don't know what crew in Chicago he belonged to, but I suspect Chicago Heights.

Some of those guys you listed were small fries in the big picture of the Outfit, I doubt any public pictures exist for probably 3/4 of them.

Honestly, I'm surprised and fortunate that I acquired as many photos as I have. With the 63 Philly chart, I had 80 made members and 30 photos, in the end I made a decision to only list those I had photos of. It still turned out ok... Chicago I have enough photos to keep it interesting.

I imagine there will be disagreements as to who was in what crew, but the structure is more accurate than the original 63 chart.

I still need to add the Connection Guys and those from the "Non-Member" Chart. There was a drug ring that allegedly answered to Giancana, I may include that even though they weren't Outfit members. It's coming along well.
