Little tidbit regarding LK bust and Genovese

Long story short, around 60 Latin Kings arrested on the east coast, mostly in Massachusetts. The usual charges you see with most street gang indictments - drug trafficking being the main thing, as well as ancillary or facilitation crimes like robbery, shootings and other assaults, etc.

What's a little interesting is the alleged top guy for the Latin Kings in that part of the country, who was also charged, is Michael "King Merlin" Cecchetelli. An Italian, obviously, and nephew of David "Fat Chickie" Cecchetelli, who the feds identified as a Genovese associate and bookie in the Springfield crew (worked for Arilotta) back in 2006.

Apparently the feds aren't sure how he rose so high up in the gang, considering his lineage, but he's been seen meeting fellow gang members at the Mount Carmel Social Club in Springfield, which was a stronghold of the Italian mob in the past.

im not sure about the original, Chicago Latin Kings and how strict they are regarding only taking members with “latin” blood, but apparently on the East Coast things are a lot less strict with the perceived racial divides in street gangs. Bloods and LKs in NY have been known to take white members. usually it’ll stem from prison.

remember the grandson of that big union guy who was tight with Gravano? Bobby Sasso? his grandkid killed someone in Queens a few years ago, apparently he was a ‘high ranking’ bloods member (you can see the SMM tatt on his face on his mugshot)

I just read somewhere that Michael and his uncle chicky live together and that they arrested chicky as well but havnt stated any charges. Kind of crazy if chicky is involved with anything illegal considering he’s all over Instagram Facebook and YouTube trying to go viral. Definitely curious to see what happens with this. Also chicky is friends with gotti jr and is with him a lot.

You don’t have to be considered latin. They move in and capitalize wherever they can. In the south, the dominant white crew by a long shot are the SCRs. In the south they are allianced with GDs. The LKs are aligned with the peoples so if you’re white and don’t want to and can’t get down the the SCR/folks, that’s your only other option. There aren’t near as many white LKs in the south as scr but they are recognized and legitimate. A quick google searched turned up a all white lk crew takedown in ms

Bloods, crips, Kings, trinitario... all accept white members in New Jersey and they are throughout the street and the prison system. Some of them go hard too.

They said that Cecchetelli was the main connection between Latin Kings on the east coast and the main leadership in Chicago. And that some other Latin King groups around the country had adopted his leadership style.

In the press conference, FBI SAC Joseph Bonavolonta (Jules Bonavolonta's kid) said the gang had adopted a level of leadership structure and order traditionally used by the Mafia. You read through the indictment and there is certainly all types of ranks and positions that suggests a very hierarchical organization; though one has to question just how functional these titles are.

One thing is for sure, the Latin Kings are like any other street gang when it comes to what they're involved in. They're not a diversified criminal group like the Mafia has been. You can look at case after case involving any major street gang anywhere in the country. It's essentially drug trafficking with ancillary or facilitation crimes like robberies, assault, murders, etc. Where you see some branching out into things like fraud or sex trafficking are the exception to the rule.

Bloods, crips, Kings, trinitario... all accept white members in New Jersey and they are throughout the street and the prison system. Some of them go hard too.
