Re: bonanno split
They seem to be a mess but at the same time the Bonnano’s are the last street family, cop magnets but will seriously fuck you or one of their own up.

Re: bonanno split
You really think they are that much more a mess than the other five families? They had enough money to higher the lawyers to beat that RICO case. In my mind JOe C and Porky are legit. Do think Joe C did pull a few bonehead stunts tho. Mancuso sounds like a sociopath. My favorite family to learn and read about tho.
Re: bonanno split
Porky and Joe were good politicians who thought they had the backing of the other families , Mike is a gangster who nobody was about to challenge . That's the difference

The whole coupe wasn’t that effective. Joe c and porky should’ve known that replacing a sitting boss w/o any real force just simply won’t work.

Perhaps in the shitshow post Massino ratting there was never a vote by the captains to install Mancuso. The Bronx via Basciano was the controlling regime and when he was nabbed Mancuso stepped up or was appointed.
So an argument could be made the vote to appoint Cammarano was more official than Mancuso’s move to boss.
Who knows.
Don't give me your f***ing Manson lamps.

I’m not qualified to rank today’s family strength but I know Staten Island which is full of hot head younger Bonnano members involved in lower level loansharking , gambling , drug dealing and occasional score. They make $ for a good living but everyone knows who they are , what they are doing. That strip club in SI where they roughed up people is full of these types and just looking to tune someone up. I get the wannabe feel when around them but they are dangerous and not to be fucked with IMO, hot head is an understatement.Mason_dixon wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 4:11 pmYou really think they are that much more a mess than the other five families? The little I know of the west side NJ have huge diversified operations , I have chilled where they have rackets in NWK/ JC/ Bellville and you would have no idea. They handle their biz differently. They don’t have that young group making trouble in bars but will take over all a bars biz activity - betting , loansharking , carting , ATM / vending machines, alcohol sales and the annual counterfeit goods Xmas catalogue My x GF brother ran with their Bellville crew and he was big on taking over all of a bar’s business but not owning the bar itself but rather the owner. He had 2 big ones in Carlstadt ( which is an overlooked hot mob area ) and a big one Nutley. Carting rights was as big for him as gambling and mandatory if you owed him $, same with ATM machines if you can believe it.
Luchesse from the little I know are somewhere in between but at least in NJ they were a little more similar to Bonnanos but with bigger business , lots of young kids handling book and drugs, rolling deep in bars and causing trouble. However the older Luchesse wise guys ( Tacetta / Perna SR ) were way more low key and would do 4-5 am meets in bar restaurants like The Godfather and just tip the bartender to stay late and drink their espressos. The younger Pernas were kind of loud but Mike Perna is still a legend and a ghost. Dying to know who is running things him or Tacetta. Carlos was struggling last I heard from him , texting people to move weed for him after he got a score and 2 days later he is pulled over and popped, real amateur IMO compared to the older heads. Him and his crew would always go to Chili's for Cinco De Mayo in Clifton and do so much wannabe gangster shit. I’d be shocked if he had any responsibilities today, shocked and I did not find them dangerous, more embarrassing to be honest.
It’s probably more of a generational thing between young and old but the Westside are just in a different league from a rackets standpoint and once they are in a joint they will run all kind of scams and not just rely on gambling .
I don’t know anything about the Colombo’s and Gambinos
