Re: Feds say ailing mobster Peter Gotti isn’t sick enough for early release
Let’s face it men, we each have our own opinion on it and nobody here is going to convince the other to change their mind.
-
So I suggest we just agree to disagree!
-
It’s all good! ..... and I do respect each varied opinion even if I think differently about it!

It easily adds up to the billions. Add up all the labor racketeering and related rackets the nationwide LCN has been involved with for over 100 years easily adds up to several billion dollars and that is not even factoring in inflation.

Yep to put it in perspective just look at these monthly figures you posted for 6 years of the Vegas skim just between these families.
For the period of 1960-1965 - figures released by FBI to the media for the Vegas skim were:
- Genovese: $50,000/month
- Chicago: $65,000/month
- Cleveland: $52,000/month
- Lansky and partners : $80,000/month
Let's subtract Lansky and partners (even though they were LCN associates). That is 167 grand a month. Over 2 million a year. So 12 million for the 6 years. Adjusted for inflation that is about 84 million right there for only handful of families in a specific period of one instance of union related rackets. Add every union related racket that every family nationwide has been involved for the 100 years they have been involved with it and billions is being very conservative. It is easily in the tens of billions.

It okay bert. I didn't know him and really don't care to be honest. I just put that out there about his death to remind everyone that we don't have to worry about ever being bothered again with any more books. God rest him and may he be at peace all the same.bert wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 7:39 pmbingo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 7:33 pmFYI Jonathan Kwitny died of stomach cancer on 11/26/1998. They can put out any figure they want, they do it all the time, with every group. And the Vegas skim figures might be correct, Vegas was big enough, I don't know if Vegas was that big in the 60's inflation wise. They inflate drug bust figures, gambling figures, and many other things. The government has stats saying illegal immigration actually cuts crime down, with stats to back it up. You believe that too?Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 7:44 pmWiseguy wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 7:28 pmFrom its early days to the present, all the families, all the rackets, and the mob hasn't even reached $1 billion?bert wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 7:20 pmYou are way off, especially going back. Fine lets play that game and say the real figure was only half of what they claimed. That still adds up to hundreds of millions of dollars from the Vegas skim alone. Add in every Union related racket that every family in the country (almost all 20+ of them) was involved with for the 100 years they have been involved and it is easily in the billions.

Ah, the standard bert (Dan) response. Any evidence that goes against your claims, you automatically ignore.bert wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 8:03 pmThey can put out any figure they want, they do it all the time, with every group. You make claims about this or that group surpassing the Mafia in New York. Then, ironically enough, an article comes out a short time later quoting prosecutors saying no group has surpassed it in New York. But they're lying?
Law enforcement documented $2.2 billion in wagers over a 15 month period in the 2007 Lucchese Operation Heat bust. At 5% net, that's over $100 million.
In 2009, there was another Lucchese gambling bust with $400 million in wagers. 5% of that is $20 million.
One family, two busts over a few years, and that's 12% of the way to $1 billion.
All roads lead to New York.

I don't know what they're talking about but the Gas tax scam alone brought in billions . Colombo gangster John Stalluppi is worth over 400 million . Richie Martino and Locascio made about a billion on the Phone company and related scams . The Pizza connection was worth what ? Almost 3 billion ? God, The mob , Especially when it was a national syndicate and a formal commission of bosses from 26 families over the last 100 years has easily brought in 100 billion or morePogo The Clown wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 7:44 pmWiseguy wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 7:28 pmFrom its early days to the present, all the families, all the rackets, and the mob hasn't even reached $1 billion?bert wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 7:20 pmYou are way off, especially going back. Yeah I was just talking about Union related rackets. If we in add in all the rackets in the 150 year history of LCN in this country then it's easily hundreds of billions. Maybe even over a trillion when adjusted for inflation.

Actually, Jonathan Kwitney has written a number of excellent books and was a respected journalist. I would say he has much more credibility dead than someone who self proclaims he has credibility and goes by Bert on the internet who probably hasn't read a Kwitney book in his life or read his reporting.

The fountain pen conspiracy was a good book by Kwitney. It was about some con-artists who were involved with stock scams and the mafia in the 60-80s?. One con-artist flipped and then went on to form his own nation state.
I'm reading Kwitneys Vicious Cirlces now. About the mafia infiltration of the national meat purveyor business

I promised myself I was going to stay out of this thread going forward, but here I am. People talk about the Constitution, and there's something in there called freedom of speech. What I don't understand is the continuing personal attacks on people on this thread and throughout this board. Whether you agree or disagree, everyone has a right to their opinion. Attacking people for their forum names or where they live and whatever else is unnecessary, rude, and just plain stupid. I don't know if it's because it's a mafia forum and everyone wants to get their mob persona on but FFS people grow up.
