Whitestone, Queens, north of the cross island. (not Chinese yet!) Along Clintonville by 14th Avenue. Near Cherry Valley.

South Amboy, NJ. Town is 1 square mile wide but has 4 strip clubs, tons of dive bars. It's not just that, either. It's a stones throw from tottenville and it shows.

Bayside, Queens. Along Bell and 38th Ave. Near the bars.
You’re spot on about South Amboy I never realized that until you pointed it out how many strip clubs it has for such a small town and it’s right by Staten Island and very Blue Collar. Great call!

Yeah because pretty much all of Downneck Newark moved there.

Joe Scoops, Merola, Taccetta, etc all live/lived there off the top of my head. There’s many many more.

Of course those areas of the Bronx are mobbed up in comparison to the rest of the city.

Whitestone and Bayside have a few wiseguys living there, but few are active there or even at all. There are probably a few spots they have, but to me Mobbed up means a lot of activity, and it isn't going on there. The strange thing is that the 2 cases that got a lot of attention were from incidents caused by the same lowest of low level associates, Bonelli. He was the reason for the case involving Somona restaurant, and the years one after with Debello.

Perhaps you're right. All I can do is support what I've said with news clipping:

I said there is some activity, not a lot compared to the population. The stabbing was not an OC thing, it was a fight in a club between young drunks. Federci's son, who is not a mobster was stabbed by a kid who lived in the same wealthy area that Tommy Lucchese movies to 80 years ago. That's as stretch and a half. As for the others most are mob stuff, although a guy buying a restaurant is not a crime. The rest are.

If you browse through my Lucchese and Genovese profiles, you’ll see how many guys are, or were, from that area.

The ones there did not grow up there, they moved there after they had money to get out of their old areas. It is nothing like East Harlem was, or Mulberry Street in the 1930's, or anything like that, it's suburban. More firemen, cops, accountants or anything else over mobsters. There is some of everything there, but it is not heavy for mob activity

The follow ups on that story are pretty incredible. The charges were dismissed, the judge was angry )he was Asian) the writer of the story was muslim, and the councilman is Chinese. Fortunato's family members and friends said to be there were not, and the person attacked had a crazy story of what they were attacked.

Agreed, most migrated there because it was a nicer area. Bigger homes and properties and as guys made money they improved their lifestyle. (Corona) was the exception in that many were born there or moved their from Harlem as kids. And it wasn’t a wealthy area. More of a Little Italy for Queens for the 1930’s-1960’s era

You are right Max. Corona was poor area, so was most of Ozone Park. People not familiar with New York mix up Howard Beach way of things with Ozone Park, but Ozone park had more wise guys active, Howard beach was more a place to live in for guys form all over. It did start to get a few restaurants for active guys to hang in, but not many. Ozone Park had The Bergin club, that one street it was on had more mob activity than all of Howard Beach. Corona was IMO the areas of Queens with most mob activity up till the 1980's The Bronx and Brooklyn always had more.

I mean if 1930's Mulberry is the comparison, then I wouldnt have stopped at 2000. Carmine Sessa and Anthony Casso's men both traveled here on their respective wars to eliminate undesirables.

I mean, the bocci courts in Bayside and Whitestone are the last few places in NYC where you can legitemately here the italian language being spoken. And they are numerous. Near Francis Lewis Park, the fire hydrants are painted in the color of the italian flag.

Then there is demographics:

A lot has been discussed about Massapequa, Franklin Square. I agree with those claims and they are surely mob centered areas. But I dont see how any legitimate view of northeast Queens says that it is not a mob frequented area.
