The Irishman is full of sh*t
Excellent article on why the Irishman was full of shit. If he was such an effective secret killer why was he using another drunk named Charlie Allen (Palermo) to do hits for Russell Bufalino in the late 70's? From Sheeran's perspective, better to give your daughters something than to die a broke ex-con in a nursing home without a penny to your name. Should be a good movie though.

Re: The Irishman is full of shit
I do not care if it's full of shit. I just want a good movie and I think Scorsese is largely capable to do it.
Re: The Irishman is full of shit
Thanks for the great article, dack. His story has always come into question so who knows what to believe but as motorfab said, hopefully it's an enjoyable movie as it's a great story (whether BS or not).

I care because it starts people believing the story. On here people research and follow these topics, but the movie will reach millions who don't, and the lies told in it will become the truth. That will increase as time passes. I like a movie to be based on facts as close as they can do it.

I agree with both of you to a point, but more with Bert, it's history so I care that its accurate. Would it be the same if someone did a movie with Kuklinski shooting Castellano and Bilotti in the street? I do hope the movie deals with the question in some fashion, like De Niro telling the story and it ending with a wink and a nod to the fact he may have made the whole thing up. I'm sure the Irishman though, "who am I hurting?"

The investigation subsequently yielded his corroboration, the suspected blood evidence on the hardwood floor and down the hallway of that house, that supports Frank's story. No one who has ever boasted about knowing what really happened to Jimmy Hoffa has had their claims tested, scrutinized, and then corroborated by independently discovered evidence... except Frank. The FBI admits that Frank was "known to be in Detroit area at the time of Hoffa's disappearance." Hoffa's son, current Teamsters President James P. Hoffa, said in September 2001 that his father would have gotten into the car with Frank. He said that his father would not have taken that ride with some of the other FBI suspects whom were mentioned.

I don't like Scorsese, which places me in a minority. This movie will probably have a ton is inaccuracies and outright lies in it. Scorsese will say what they always say: " We had expert advisors, and people who were close to him.. " The book it is based on was considered by people who follow OC to be fake on a lot of things.
Re: The Irishman is full of shit
I tend to believe Sheeran may have been involved in Hoffa's death but the other high profile murders he claims to have committed seem pretty dubious. It appears that most of the movie focuses on Hoffa so I won't mind. I look forward to seeing it.

Re: The Irishman is full of shit
I am interested in seeing if the movie spawns some more research into Bufalino Crime Family such as books or even good tv documentaries.
We do not know much about it for a guy who seems to have had much respect from other crime families and bosses.

Yeah I'm supprised Scorsese went with this story. I think he does partly because at this point Hoffa's murder will likely never be solved.bert wrote:I care because it starts people believing the story.
