STEFANO (STEVE) MENNA - born 1912 in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint area (673 Metropolitan Ave). A former semi-professional boxer (126-lb. class). Reputed soldier in the old Bonanno Family. He was an aide to murdered Bonanno Sam (Hank) Perrino. Activities: truck hijacking, shylocking and strong-arm. Menna had a long policy record; grand larceny, assault and robbery, rape, violation of parole, hijacking, disorderly conduct (twice), forgery, consorting with criminals, vagrancy, criminally receiving stolen goods, gun possession, criminal contempt (twice), criminal possession of drugs. He was convicted of robbery (5-10 years), hijacking (3 years), disorderly conduct (twice) and contempt of court (30 days-twice).
Menna’s associates have included; Vito Grimaldi, Rocco Matra, Joseph Maddalone, Philip Mistretta, Frank Mistretta, Philip Rastelli, Angelo D’Andrea and Paul Sciacca. In 1931, he was one of three men arrested for the robbery of a Myrtle Avenue (Ridgewood) “Epstein Clothing” store. In 1969, one of 23 men arrested for narcotics sales on Long Island. Also in 1969, Menna was one of five men convicted on contempt of court charges for refusing to testify before a grand jury probing the Bonanno war. The others were Rocco Matra, Joseph Chilli, Gerald Chilli, Natale (Joe Diamond) Evola. He switched sides in the Bonanno War, first aligned with Perrone and Bonanno, later jumping over to the Paul Sciacca faction. By the late 1970’s, Menna had retired, and died in 1984.

CAMILLO (CARL) SARDEGNA - born 1925 in NYC. By 1965, he had relocated out to the Dix Hills section of Huntington Township in Suffolk County (10 White Birch Drive). He was identified as a Bonnano “associate”..... very little available about Sardegna’s prior history. He was the owner of a trucking firm that did business on the New York docks. He was active in the bookmaking racket for which he had been arrested. During the “Bonanno War”, he was said to have been affiliated with the Joseph Bonanno faction. He had an arrest record for; bookmaking, forgery, bigamy and violating state wage laws. He had convictions for; bigamy, state wage law violations and bookmaking. Never jailed. After the early 1970’s, nothing is heard from Sardegna, and no additional information was available, including a dod.

I am! I like reading about the lesser known, but still influential members. I'm researching the Bonanno war currently and trying to piece it together, so it's cool to read the profiles and get a picture into that time through them.

Patrick Prisenzano doesn't exist. However if you thought about Angelo & Frank Prisinzano, they died in 79 & 70 and they were not murdered ;)
