Re: DETROIT MOBSTER “JOE HOOKS” DIES PEACEFULLY & FREE AT 87
Polizzi earned an accounting and business finance degree from Syracuse, he was the crime family's treasurer, handling financial affairs. When Jimmy Q got locked up in the early 1980s (cheese-company bust-out), Polizzi was promoted to consigliere by Jack Tocco. Polizzi held the post until 1996 when it was revealed his son, a family attorney, was going to be the star witness at Tocco's Operation Game Tax trial and Tocco shelved him in retribution for his kid's misdeeds.

What does that exactly mean? Are you saying Polizzi was involved in every single guy's racket and kept track of all the money being sent up to the Administration? Are you saying that Polizzi was in charge of loaning out money to other Detroit Mob guys in the Family for their rackets? How was he the "Treasurer" for the whole Family? Who replaced him as the "Treasurer" when he was shelved?scott22 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 11:32 pm Polizzi earned an accounting and business finance degree from Syracuse, he was the crime family's treasurer, handling financial affairs. IDK he was just using it as a comparison. It is like when Staino compared himself as being the CFO of the Philly mobConfederate wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 10:23 pmI just wanted him to elaborate more on Polizzi's role as "CFO" in relation to the other guys in the Detroit Mob since they mostly were all involved in seperate rackets as opposed to a Chief Financial Officer in a Corporation which is much more centralized than the Mafia.Fughedaboutit wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 7:07 pmHe put it in parentheses in case you had not noticed. It just shows his opinion of his role as comparable to the legal world as it pertained to the family. Not hard to comprehend IMO. Madoff had an official title too, and he was a bigger crook and POS than anyone in the mafia.Confederate wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 6:13 pmWhat do you mean by "CFO"? In the Corporate world it means "Chief Financial Officer". Is it really accurate to start giving these guys "Corporate Titles"?
What is your point??

Once again, Mary Ferrell has very interesting information, but you have take it all with a grain of salt because different informants give different information. That's why I would never insist that Quasarano wasn't a captain. But the main thing is that I don't see how you can use 1960s informant information to say that Quasarano wasn't a captain in the 1970s. You have to keep in mind how much the Frontier casino bust changed things for Zerilli and Polizzi in the 70s. They lost a lot of influence then. Which would explain why Quasarano becomes consigliere after Priziola dies and is only replaced by Polizzi when he goes to jail.
I do want to point out though how I find it interesting what these informants thought at the time(which obviously turned out false). In the 1960s at different times informants were saying that Tony Zerilli was the acting boss or going to be the boss, Michael Polizzi was the acting boss or going to be the boss, Vincent A Meli was the acting boss or going to be the boss, Dominic Corrado was the acting boss or going to be the boss.......and of course Jack Tocco ended up actually being the boss.
Also odd that they would list Vincent H. Meli(Angelo's son) as being an upper echelon member. I think that's just false information since other than some stuff in the 50s he never shows up again.

Just an FYI, if you're trying to make a point it helps to actually write it out. But once again, all I'm saying is that I don't think you should just say Quasarano was never a captain in the 70s based on informant information from the 1960s especially considering that a lot of that 60s information turned out not to be correct. Doesn't make any sense.
Re: DETROIT MOBSTER “JOE HOOKS” DIES PEACEFULLY & FREE AT 87
Oh really? and then how to find out which information is correct or incorrect. First, Polizzi in the 1960s is listed as a captain by many Detroit informants and informants from California. Second, Polizzi fell into disgrace when he was charged in 1972, but he served his sentence from 1975 to 1977. So, according to your version, Quasarano became captain somewhere in this period?

Hi Eline. Hope I didn't come across as rude. We all enjoy this stuff. It's good to discuss stuff. But yeah actually. I dont have FBI files from the 70s to back it up, but the way you just said it makes a lot of sense. Polizzi gets busted in the Frontier case, Quasarano is made captain, Polizzi gets out(missing any of the Hoffa details like Tony Zerilli), loses a lot of status, Priziola dies in 1979, Quasarano becomes consigliere, Polizzi is a captain, Quasarano goes to jail, Polizzi becomes consigliere.Eline2015 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2019 7:32 pm Oh really? and then how to find out which information is correct or incorrect. Mike Polizzi and Jimmy Quasarano were both capos in the 1960s. Polizzi never had a crew underneath him. Jimmy Q ran Papa John Priziola's crew. Polizzi spoke for his father-in-law out west in California, AZ, and LV, Jimmy Q spoke for him out east in NYC and in Sicily, where Jimmy Q's father in law (Vito Vitale) was a don.

Can't tell you why an informant said Ruggirellos are in Polizzi's crew. From my understanding, Ruggirello bros. were always in Tocco crew until they were given a crew of their own.

And who was a capo, when priziola was bumped to consig. Frankie Coppola?
