Why do I get the feeling he's a front boss? Between that touching newspaper article about his daughter speaking on his behalf in court and his name being thrown around so much, it's unlike this family to have such a star as boss. They usually treat outsiders like mushrooms, fed shit and kept in the dark.

If ur talking about Liborio S Bellomo then I disagree. Bellomo was made when he was 20 and was groomed by the chin to one day take over the family. Also Barney’s name hasn’t been thrown around that much since his release from prison in 2008.

I remember the NYT article years ago talking about his grooming, and the fact that he was a great handball player.

Barney's wife and the Fiorino's sister passed away a couple of years ago.
It's Jerry Fiorino that has/had the jewelry store on Williamsbridge Rd just off of Westchester Square back in the 80's and 90's. Not sure if it's still there. Interestingly, Anthony was a professional level paddleball player and had his own line of signature paddles. He's gotta be in his mid to late 50's now but always was in great shape. He probably still plays in the summer out on Orchard Beach.

You are right about the paddleball he was on the news several times in non-crime related stories back in the 1990's. He was considered one of the best, if not the best, paddleball athletes in the country. They would interview him and other players, and show them in action. He was a great athlete.

Liborio T was arrested....Back in 1987...it was a heroin drug case and he had no drugs on him. Fish Caafaro set them up..Everyone mistakes the other Barney as the one who was arrested but it was Liborio T the cousin. Liborio S wasn't arrested until 1996 and before that it was in his teens so probably the 70's

Nothing weird about it. It's the norm for Italian families because traditionally first son's are named after their grandfather so if you have 2, 3 or more brothers who have kids they are all naming their first sons after the same guy and so on.

Barney T ... and he was convicted and did time. Barney S first real arrest ( not including gun charge in teens) comes in 1996. Which he ended up doing 12. 1/2 years with 2 other indictments added in over the years. So how could he have also done any time in the 80”s? He didn’t. It was his cousin. Barney S was never ever involved in drugs. Barney T is 2 years older. Born in 1955. You can read this all in the 1987 indictment. Tutino. Larca etc.

A jury convicted four men yesterday of selling heroin to a major mob informer who later refused to cooperate with the prosecution.

After a two-month trial in Federal District Court in Manhattan and three days of deliberations, the jury convicted the defendants of all the charges against them. The prosecution portrayed the main defendant, Ralph Tutino, as an associate of the Lucchese crime family.

Besides Mr. Tutino, 60 years old, the other defendants are Leoluca Guarino, 53, Salvatore Larca, 43, and Laborio Bellomo, 33, all of the Bronx. Mr. Tutino's lawyer, Bruce Cutler, said the defendants would appeal their convictions.

All the defendants except Mr. Bellomo could face a maximum sentence of life in prison, for the sale of more than four pounds of heroin, and he could face up to 40 years on each of two lesser charges. Judge Pierre N. Leval set April 27 for sentencing. $400,000 to Buy Heroin The main evidence included discussions about drugs that the informer, Vincent (Fish) Cafaro, taped a year ago while cooperating with the Government after he was indicted as a leader of the Genovese crime family.

Welcome to the forum! Sometimes newspaper articles get the ages wrong. I've read a couple of court documents from this case when I did my write-up on Barney S Bellomo. The Bellomo in this case was referred to as a "Genovese soldier". Barney T was identified as an associate in the late-1990s and was inducted into the family at an unknown date afterwards. Of course there's always the possibility of mix-up, but I've seen a few other articles that are linking Barney S with the case, and I assume they had access to more primary sources than I did. Also, Liborio T. Bellomo was born on 15 Dec 1954, not in 1955. He was listed as residing in Little Neck, Oakland Gardens and Bayside, Queens during the 1970s and 1980s.

They do sometimes get the wrong ages etc in articles but I can assure you they didn’t here. Also Liborio S is not mentioned in this case at all. It’s Liborio T only. Ppl over the years just assumed it was Liborio S which is not true...if it were Liborio S it would probably on Wikipedia and I’m sure Jerry Capeci would have wrote about it. It’s not him.

it’s really barney s, barney lived in the bronx at that time pelham bay. ralph coppola was attached to the hip with him and they dealt dope together with sallie larca sr. they were around amongst big dope men like ralph tutino and fat gigi inglese’s old crew in the bronx and wc. barney didn’t have to do any time for that dope beef, fish witheld shit at the stand because barney took his son under him. liborio t bellomo is from queens and was in a nj crew at that time. barney s is also older than barney t

Barney T is 2 years older than S , that’s a fact... it was Barney T w drug case. He did the time for it too. Barney S didn’t do time until 1996. Was never convicted of anything until 1997..Barney S was never involved w any drugs ever. You have it all wrong trust me. Everyone knows it was the cousin. Fish set barney T and those guys and testified against them. They all went to prison...Later on he tried making up stories ( not drug stories) on Barney S but that didn’t work out. These are facts. I’m not guessing.
