I thought Amuso and Casso killed him in a kitchen after a meeting? Just off the top of my head I could easily be mistaken

I hear what you're saying HK. I recall D'Arco saying in his book something along the lines of he stopped selling drugs once he became made so he could stay true to the oath.HairyKnuckles wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2019 2:43 am Mighty, something you must keep in mind is (and it goes with rape convictions too) that while being just an associate, the individual can get away with. it. It´s when he becomes made, that he rules applys to him. Why would an associate be inclined to follow Cosa Nostra rules if he literally is not a member of the organization? When becoming made, the individual has gone through a process of training, a cleansing (for lack of a better word) to become a new man. That´s why they sometimes refer to becoming made as being baptized. I hope you understand what I´m trying to say here. Santoro was most likely not made in the 1940s but later.

It was not the heavy sentences but a change in thinking. They became less desperate for money as time went on, and also people change. There was also an overall change in how drug users were viewed, they were ignored and unsympathetic people for the most part until the 1950s. when society started shifting how they were viewed. In the early days a lot of them grew up with junkies in their families, Joe Biondo had a junkie brother for example, so did a Genovese Captain named Gerardo Spinelli. Outright heroin and Opium addicts. There were many more Mafia members who had the same issue with their brothers or cousins. It was ignored to a degree. They felt sorry for them, but felt it was the junkies fault. That was a way of thinking in the old days.HairyKnuckles wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2019 2:43 am Cabrini, the rule most bosses impose is don´t deal with drugs. That means that no member is allowed to deal or to finance drug deals. In reality, that has nothing to do with morals but rather with safety for the boss or for the Family. Staying away from drug trafficking reduces the risk of hefty sentences and becoming a government witness. It´s somewhat ironic, because many bosses were themselves in the drug trade while they were just soldiers or captains. The temptation for many of these guys is overwhelming and the bosses basically can´t stop them. What is he supposed to do when finding out that half the members of his Family is in the drug trade?

It is not all morals, you got that right for sure. It bought a lot of federal scrutiny, as did counterfeiting money, which also was banned, and in the 1970's they banned (or tried to ban) dealing in stolen securities.
The people coming up in the post 1960's were too different though, drug use became so common in America and especially big cities like New York. Young guys getting close to a crew would tell the soldier or captains they knew that they hated drug users, and would never sell drugs. Then they'd meet up with friends and get high or do drug deals. This was so common by the 1980's with cocaine. It got crazy by the 80's in New York, it was like alcohol was during prohibition.

thanks. that bobby amuso correct?johnny_scootch wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2019 5:05 pmCasso said they set up a meeting with him in Brooklyn and Amuso shot him in the head.Rocco wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2019 5:00 pm Did Casso ever tell the feds exactly what happened to Buddy Luongo? Ricciardi's testimony said that the Bronx faction was beside themselves when Luongo disappeared. Leads me to believe that it was not someone from the Bronx that pulled the trigger on Luongo.

That’s the narrative in the ‘Brooklyn Bloodbath’ or whatever it’s called documentary that comes on tv all the time. Has Casso and Amuso shooting him while the three are all eating breakfast at Luongo’s house.JeremyTheJew wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2019 7:17 pmhonestly i thought the same thing.Fughedaboutit wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2019 5:54 pm I thought Amuso and Casso killed him in a kitchen after a meeting? Yes Bobby. Casso said they tricked Luongo into coming to Brooklyn where they were supposed to have a sit-down with the Gambino's over the recent attempt on Casso's life by Jimmy Hydell.Rocco wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 8:03 amthanks. that bobby amuso correct?johnny_scootch wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2019 5:05 pmCasso said they set up a meeting with him in Brooklyn and Amuso shot him in the head.Rocco wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2019 5:00 pm Did Casso ever tell the feds exactly what happened to Buddy Luongo? Re: Anthony Luongo
D'Arco's book is the only place I have seen any info about him. He ran a bar / hangout in Brooklyn and was super low key. Hung out in Canarsie and Howard Beach. Presided over a making ceremony with Vic once. I think he died of lung cancer. in the book Al says he always respected how low key and grounded he was and that he never got caught up in all the shit that Vic and Casso were always stirring up
