Say you find some wiseguys..... where do you take it from there? Will you introduce yourself, or is it just, you want to see em in the flesh?

the best way to do it would be to get the last reservation of the night at Parkside and linger around as they're breaking everything down. then ,introduce yourself to Tony and present him with a printout of Pogo's chart or maybe even one of Murkemin's graphic charts, and ask him to fill in the gaps with you over some buca and coffee. see if the Gigliottis were really associates of his, tooFughedaboutit wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2019 12:19 pm"Mr. Federici I have heard you may have retired, are you active in the mob still? Nope not you. I agree..Fughedaboutit wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2019 12:18 pmSure you can be curious If it happened by chance it would be neat. But the effort it takes to travel around NY and basically stalk the place of business of these guys to just look at them? lol IDK maybe it is just me.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2019 7:56 am I don’t think it’s weird at all.
We read, research and write about these guys daily, why wouldn’t we be curious about seeing some of them in the flesh?
Enjoy your trip Gohn , post any pictures
If I am in NY I might go to one of their restaurants to eat or something, but not be constantly looking around playing spot a wiseguy lol
To each their own
Also the last time I was at Parkside I didn’t see tony. And it was before a met game.

Spumoni Gardens? Not really. Try Don Pepes or Bamontes during the weeknights or Parkside

Re: Visiting New York - Where to Find Wiseguys.
I agree on Spumoni Gardens, as for the other 2 Don Pepe's had some wise guys there a few years ago caught on a wiretap, but they may be dead. Also if a person does not know better, they will mistake any Italian looking person for a mafia. Most wise guys blend in, they are not like characters in a Scorsese movie. I have never been to Bamontes.
Bottom line is he can try, but will wind up being puzzled, and given the demographics of areas such as where Don Pepe's is, might lead to him getting desperate and asking a couple of Indians in Turbans what crew they are with.

We finally got a Tony Lukes in Brooklyn on Flatbush & DeKalb. I've been in their a few times since they opened and haven't seen Ligambi or Mazzone once. WTF!

thats not too surprising only because thats a pretty popular place. also its common for politicians and civic workers to frequent long established, tried and true, local businesses. a lot of the common "mob joints" fit this mold - versus newer come-and-go places, or newer trendier places that cater more to a transient demographic.willychichi wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2019 5:27 pm DA candidate raises eyebrows with fundraiser at reputed mob joint

Im almost positive Federici was given some sort of community award by the old borough president at one point, and the Grimaldi's were honored with a proclamation 10 years ago by a State Senator, who was outright unapologetic when he found out they were made guys.
despite how they may have gotten the money to finance the places, or what they do off the clock, some of these guys who run local, deeply rooted successful businesses, are valued members of the community. the area around Barosa doesnt need the help, but a place like Parkside is an anchor for that neighborhood and not only locals frequent it, but people from all over (or people who moved away) travel in and spend money there and in the neighborhood as well. its good for everyone. and theres always that old adage and stereotype of mobsters keeping areas safe, ala "dont mess around near there, the owners a gangster..." which I always thought was a bullshit stereotype, like is Federici himself really going to issue a hit on a derelict hanging out in the park across the street??, come on...thats ridiculous... until we actuall saw in that Patsy Parello indictment that he had his goons issue a brutal beating to a bum panhandling for money outside of his restarurant lmao..
anyway back on track, not surprising for local politicians or power players frequenting "mob joints" only because a lot of the known "mob joints" around are long standing businesses that help the community

He is an associate, which can mean anything. Ben Carson ate there once, check yelp site for the restaurant. I guess Ben Carson is a mob associate too now If a place is good or in an easy location to get to politicians go there. In the 1980's President Reagan ate in Little Italy and a big deal was made of that.willychichi wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2019 5:27 pm DA candidate raises eyebrows with fundraiser at reputed mob joint
