Mob Books/Films you'd like to see made

Post by Angelo Santino »

I'll go:

Books:

LUCIANO: Man to Mythology. Focuses on the evolution of Salvatore "Charles 'Charley Lucky' Luciano" Lucania and how his legend grew and grew. His star quickly rose and faded. In Italy he still had his connections, one doesn't lose them, but he had no influence on which direction the Genovese family took. Whether he was replaced officially in 46 (Bill Bonanno) or Costello was acting the whole time (Valachi), the Gen didn't stop in their tracks and telegram Lucky in Naples and wait for his direction.... Today, he is the Founder of The American Mafia. The Great Innovator who taught the Mafia the art of American Capitalism.

SERIES:

Philadelphia! 1979-2000. 4 seasons at least!

A "Blood and Honor" movie directed by Scorsese followed by a "Goodfellas Tapes" movie directed by Tarantino.

L.A. Family from the late 40's to early 80's. A struggling West coast family that not only has to compete with the Mexican and Black gangs but also the constant ire of their east coast counterparts until one day their location on the Coast makes them a pivitol part in the robot wars and humanities struggle to survive. Lol but really a series on a fictional L.A. family would be cool.

Philly hands down... Blood and honor I think would be great with a huge financial backing... These Medicore backed films like the iceman and to kill the Irishman kinda sucked....

Perfect.

Love to see the Chin hit the big screen.
Boxer, the hit on Costello, becoming boss, the barstard son, the robe and the act, death in Jail.
Better than fiction

Thoughts on casting?
(Chin: Daniel day Lewis, Christopher walken, Ralph Fiennes? QD: Alan Arkin? Barney: Joaquín Phoenix?)

See what you're saying but Chazz just isn't evil enough.

DDL can play an evil fucker (Gangs of NY, There will be blood) and Fiennes in the sequel to Silence of the lambs was truly scary. Walken? Well he's off his mind in real life so...

Chazz would make a good older Barney. Joaquín the early years..

I asked George about that, he said he tried for awhile, Hollywood had no interest. After Merlino was released, he also searched for outlets on his life story and he wasn't exactly courted either.

I agree though. Philadelphia 1979-2000 and beyond has everything you could ever want in a mob story. You don't even need to tweak anything for dramatic effect.

Philly deserves better than Tenth & Wolf.
