old Tommy Del article

Re: old Tommy Del article
Thanks for sharing, buddy.
Some aspects of the article are questionable, though...
- It says Caramandi was a capo, which we know isn't true.
- Says a number of Scarfo associates moved to Tunersville in the 80's, where Tommy was made. Sure they had a ceremony there, but who all moved there?
- Implies Scarfo got his ideas for the making ceremony from the movies. No, Scarfo followed the traditional ceremony that had always been in place.
Tommy DelGiorno was a big reason the Frankie Flowers murder got turned over and those guys got their sentences reduced. He couldn't remember a lot of what he'd testified about before and it hurt the credibility of the case, giving the defense attorneys the upper hand. I should add that his credibility was already in trouble even during the initial proceedings in the 80's.
Despite his lack of integrity, one thing that is true is that there was a murder contract on DelGiorno before he flipped. That isn't true for Caramandi, Merlino, Leonetti, or Milano, but for Delgiorno there was evidence that he was going to be murdered.

My favorite DelGiorno bit is hen he asks Frank Narducci Jr. (I think) if they have everything they need for the hit on Frankie Flowers and Narducci replies that they have everything except the guns and the car. "If you don't have the guns and the car what the fuck do you got?" was DelGiorno's reply.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

He's funny, but he seems to be making shit up a lot of the time. (I don't buy that thing about Scarfo pushing a horse off a cliff, unless Nicky used a bulldozer or something.)
Should've been a comedian instead of a mobster.

I think by turnersville they are referring to Washington twp. A lot of Italians moved there from philly so it wouldn't surprise me. Currently Dame's family lives there (as did he before federal prison). I don't know who they are referring to specifically in the article but it is believable IMO.

Nicky Crow was never made a capo but reported right to Scarfo in AC from Philly over Faffy And Del at the time

Tommy Del would be that guy you'd like hearing at a bar, good story teller and interesting character.
