Santora? Most recently, he was a high-ranking capo from 2010 or so until 2012, when he was indicted with the Bonanno family hierarchy. He pleaded guilty to trying to collect an extortionate debt, but was indicted again in 2013 with his Williamsburg crew, and they went to trial in 2016, which resulted in a mistrial and subsequent lenient plea deals.

We don't know exactly who is running the crew anymore, but we know that Vito Badamo, aged 55, was being groomed to take it over by Santora, who is allegedly ailing and on his deathbed. Badamo took a plea deal in March 2017, and is scheduled to be released from state prison in January 2019, at which point he might be selected to take over the crew. He seems like the logical choice.

In the meantime, former acting capo Paul Spina, aged 62, is still around after being released from prison in 2016. At 6 feet 1 and 270 pounds, Fat Paulie was an enforcer and loanshark, and also shook down restaurants in Queens such as Napa & Sonoma for protection money. According to the NJ Gaming Commission, Spina was also active in a laundry list of other crimes such as selling untaxed cigarettes, bookmaking, theft, and telemarketing fraud in both New York and Florida. Spina was indicted in 2007 with a whole lot of other Bonanno capos and soldiers, and took a 106-month plea for murder conspiracy. He was indicted again in 2009 and charged with extortion and loansharking, and I imagine whatever plea deal he took ran concurrently with his murder conspiracy sentence because he was released from prison in 2016.

Dino Cammarano, aged 49, a low-key soldier and brother to Joseph Cammarano Jr., is also on the streets and active, having never served any jail time. He was inducted in 2003, but it's unknown what role, if any, he has in the family.

Michael Cassese, aged 51, is on the streets and is the son of Nicky Santora's girlfriend. He was a longtime drug dealer in the 1980s and 1990s, but wasn't made until 2004, when his mother begged Santora, who was then a powerful capo and soon to be acting underboss. Cassese then ran a Texas Hold 'Em poker game from 2004 to 2006, and was tape-recorded threatening to murder a woman gambler. He is a potential candidate for acting capo, but that would be a long shot in my opinion.

Regarding the Carna thing, I think it's likely that he took over after capo Dino Calabro was imprisoned, because I imagine Calabro was the capo over Gioeli's old crew, which, according to the crew succession, may have taken over a portion of the Russo crew.

Also, where did you read that William 'Billy' Russo was capo in the 1990s? Because other than that, I would have thought Gioeli was capo over that crew in the 1990s, succeeded by Dino Calabro, and then succeeded by Joseph Carna. I know Billy Russo was capo sometime around 2010, so I don't know quite where he fits into that.

Great research. Although if Eddie Coco was born in 1908 I find it hard to believe he would have been a captain in 1931 at the age of 23 or 24.

Guy's like Joe Morello, Masseria, Tom Reina and others were also bosses by their early 30s. During that 1900s-1920s era lots of guy were made in their late teens and early 20s.
